Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

eASIC purchase

Another company bought. They have only 150 employees and still a lot of VPs. They fit to Intel culture. I couldn't find the price anywhere but probably billions again...

"Can intel develop anything themselves ?"

Not anymore. Not even process technology or x86 design, nothing. Intel went from being a 1 or 2 trick pony to a no-trick pony.

Obviously this was in flight for at least several months. It’s a parting gift from BK

This was a private deal, so no purchase price is public, at least for now. These guys were formed in 1999. They were going to go public in 2015 but pulled the offering.

From their Aug 2015 S-1:

"In 2012, 2013, 2014 and the first three months of 2015, Ericsson and Seagate together accounted for 73%, 87%, 93% and 95%, respectively, of our total revenues. For the years ended December 31, 2013 and 2014, our total revenues were $29.8 million and $67.4 million, respectively, representing an annual growth rate of 126%. We do not expect our revenues to continue to grow at these historical rates in the future. Our net loss for 2013 and 2014 was $7.8 million and $1.1 million, respectively. For the three months ended March 31, 2014 and 2015, our revenues were $13.6 million and $20.1 million, respectively, and our net income was $0.4 million and $0.7 million, respectively. We may not be able to grow or sustain our revenues in the future and expect our expenses to increase substantially in the near term.

Recent estimates say their revenue was ~$80M per year. So, I'm guessing the purchase price was not much more than 2x of that.

The deal was likely already in flight when BK got sacked. This seems to be an attempt to bolster the Altera (PSG) group, and maybe PSG can pull it off to help their own future products. Don't expect to EVER see any integration with a CPU.
