Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

were you a victim of a political hit job?

Do you believe that you were discriminated against due to internal politics? Was it ageism, s-xism, or just a fast ascending supervisor that didn’t care for you?

An S band Directorr in Apparel Innovation "retired" this week.

His bad behavior had been reported to HR for a while now.

Maybe it was something new or maybe they finally took a deeper look into his past.

He did a lot of damage while in charge and gutted a talented group of devoted, career employees in last year's layoffs..

It's too bad that nobody above him listened to those below him before the layoffs.

Nike HR, there are a lot more like him that need to "retire".

The worst. Zero subject matter and team leadership experience plus your points = disaster.

Absolutely. My boss was horrible. Never available, not clear, easy to anger. Yet she was tremendously well connected to senior Nike execs on a social level outside of work. Her utter lack of anything resembling competence was passed to her VP level friends as a result of her talentless team. Even though we all had advanced degrees, multiple years of operating at a highly successful level both within Swoosh and outside of it, she was able to sell us off as the problem. Most of us were let go.

A year later and it still makes my face red with anger.

Yes, I was a victim of a hit job and retaliation. Director doesn't qualify for L band position. Hires only her friends and people that are beneath her. Fearful of looking like she doesn't know anything. Someday karma will bite. In the meantime, the org can't keep anyone of quality.

Ageism and two successively bad leaders who are no longer with the co. Yet I was told repeatedly by other leaders to fall in line with those bad leaders no matter what.

Once you get cast in a bad leader’s shadow, it’s hard to shake that off.

Worked for a manager not a leader who clearly played favorites. Is not fully truthful in her evaluations and reports to a weak manager who will not listen to what you have to say. They make it so toxic even if you want to apply for another position their comments will stop the hiring manager from talking with you. This manager has had complaints from people who report to her to ER. She is not well liked or respected by her peers. She does not respect people of age or who have many years of service at Nike. Fortunately I was able to get away from her. The majority of her direct reports are trying to get away. It stinks that someone can cause so much misery for others.

Returning from maternity leave was enough to derail my 15 year career!
