Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Employee Success or lack thereof... future layoff coming??

The culture and morale in the CSM Hubs is at an all point low! They preach employee success but have yet to see them actually commit and deliver. Rumors are wild on every campus (TX,MA,Canada).

What's the real story here?

Do we have jobs?

Are jobs moving offshore?

What's the timeline?

Are they going to give us notice to look for internal opportunities?

Where in the CSM model are you safe? Free or Paid services?

Let’s put the drama to rest. Reset for Monday with a clean slate. Voices have been heard and many have been consulted with this week.

And in an instant the walls came crumbling down in Austin. They have been crumbling for some time now if we are honest. It’s a dog eat dog mentality. Survivial at its worst. Bottom line, RB created this environment. Whoever would have guessed we miss the DR days. If you want to succeed in this new world its about a-- kissing, stuckig up and agreeing with the top. You must not have any opinions or show you are smarter than the select few. This is our new normal. Toxicity until the final day late January. When that last day falls, a majority of us will look around and forget the tearing down of each other. Instead we will need to console promote and navigate our next journey. For those actively looking great job. It will be harder when we have everyone on the market at the same time. There is not enough jobs to support us all in the same job search at the same time.

With regards to employee success, completely agree. Throughout changes in leadership and structure, all I’ve seen in my time here is that Oracle will always over promise and under deliver. When we said we felt unprepared and needed training, I think we expected trainers not links to the most generic Lynda.com courses. Our customers are frustrated that we seem to change the model every few months and I agree. How can you ever develop skills or start projects to “make yourself more valuable” when a new change comes a long for the 10th time and wipes out all your hard work? Not hard to feel disillusioned.

@DB - To your point about the feedback tools, I’ve never received a genuine response from that method. Only canned answers that leave poor taste in your mouth with regards to CB and RB. They speak all they want about being “bestest” but I’ve yet to see our feedback truly followed up on in any meaningful way.

In conclusion, don’t think anyone should count on oracle customer success for a long term career.

This is comical because DB has not contributed anything since he joined the CSM organization

Stop and think about what is being written here.... seriously. Also, think about why someone.. you!.. would spend the time to write this up.

We get it. You are actively disengaged... In business, Oracle or otherwise, you need to actually deliver something valuable to EARN your salary. When you ignored opportunities to increase your skill set, and by extension underserve your clients... YOU then drive the business to make changes. Eventually, those changes will mean that your job is not "safe"... Should it be?

My advice:

  1. Focus on you - What do can you do to be better? What can you do to be more marketable (if there's merit to your layoff rumor)? How can you actually influence better outcomes? If all else fails.... have the decency to quit, please.

  2. Be a champion - What the "champions" have in common is that they suggested changes that make sense within the big picture framework... There is a link at the bottom of every communication asking for feedback and legit appeals for help. Considering the work-pace in the tech industry, it rarely makes sense to announce projects/workstreams/initiatives until the feasibility of a real go-live is high...

  3. End Ad hominem - We are adults. Don't spend your days hiding behind a keyboard attacking folk who are literally swamped doing things that are A) hard B)meant to help you. Intentions matter! If you have an issue with an idea or its execution... bring it forward AND fight for your point of view. Don't slander colleagues with childish nonsense.

  4. Take is personally - I hope you all take this personally. It's your career.. clients.. bonus'.. life! Talk to someone honestly and openly. This passive-aggressive Reddit-like BS is more problematic than helpful. We are all better than this.

God-Speed... If you still mad, holla @ me and let's find real paths forward.

Incompetence breeds incompetence. They promoted a bunch of Sr CSMs into manager roles 1 to 2 years ago. My understanding is in hopes they would not figure out or question the overall picture of offshoring. What they didn’t count on, many (not all) are much more observant than they thought. My manager has kept me the in the loop and is proactively assisting with my new career search. Thankful to have someone who cares about my individual happiness and success.

Interesting read about toxic workplace. Probably written about Oracle.

The arrogance coming from the platinum champions team is very real. They constantly act like they are better than everyone else and have all of the information. This behavior is allientating them from the Hub. Once RB is gone they will likely realize where they went wrong

Even millennials aren’t safe. Even if you are on the paid team, customers won’t be buying it. Who pays for that kind of stuff from O? No one with half a brain.

Secondly, millennials in India, Eastern Europe, and even Africa are cheaper. They’re going to continue to lower the cost of sale. Once you get 6-12 mos of experience, you need to find a newer, better, higher paying job at a much more respected company.

It’s all intentional. Make the staff miserable and let it leak the future layoff. Hope they quit and you save on paying severance.

  1. Benefits

  2. Work from home

  3. Easy job

  4. You wait long enough the peeps running the show will change over in 6 months to a year.

  5. S-x in the office. Well the areas not yet occupied or have been completely laid off.

Can anyone give 5 reasons as to why they are NOT actively looking for a new job and would want to stay in this mess???? I don’t get it. Period. It’s obvious and for those not looking are just lazy and content.

Millennials in the HUB won’t have jobs in 2019. No one will if you are part of the free/platinum model. All of it will be offshored. Best chance is if the paid/advanced model actually takes off. Then they need to network like hell to move into the advanced teams.

This is happening in the Platinum world. Presentations have been floated around and shared. You have until January or February to to find your next gig or get the recorded conference call or fedex walking papers.

If you are a millennial in a hub then your job is safe for the first 12 months. After that, if you don’t start showing results, they will cut you loose to make room for fresh meat.

No!! We are NOT dense! Take a walk in our shoes right now. Changes abound and no clear communication of what is really happening. Rumor mill is on fire. Staff are out to take others down in hopes of keeping their job.

I doubt even the paid CSMs are safe. We had a Sales meeting and everyone around the table was like glad we don’t have to sell this. It’s up to a sales org within the CSM dept to make this happen. Good luck!

Some are in the know and some are left out. For those in the know they will gladly tell you what is going down. Followed by “you should be looking for a job”.

It’s leaked already. Just come out and tell us the timeline to offshoring. What path is there for us to stay in CS, not lose our jobs and still provide a service to our customers.

It’s very apparent RB and CB don’t care about their people. Faker than a plastic plant. They lie out of their teeth each and every day. What a pathetic approach. I wish they could see how c-appy they are being from our perspective.

CS Management doesn’t appear to care about morale right now. It seems like they want more people to leave. If they arent replacing CSMs and Directors who have already left...the writing is on the wall people
