Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

You’ll never get a union in

Give up. Shut up. Do your job.

Walmart and Sam’s has been clear on their feelings about unions. If you want a union, work somewhere else.

Basically an entire market would have to unionize. How could they shut down an entire market? And imagine the horrible press if they did.

I highly doubt Costco cares about Sam’s.

Id pay union dues. Rest assured if it was to pass then maybe they would finally take a look at the top leadership in this company. When it comes down to it shareholders is what they worry about and clubs unionizing would definately open some eyes. Costco is sitting back and waiting si if they do shut down siding me clubs they can come in and take over

Don't be so sure about that. Close the clubs down. Nobody cares. At least we'll go with dignity instead of waiting for them to dismiss us like a piece of garbage.

It’s a moot point. They can’t get the votes for a union.

To wbh- yes the clubs that succeed in getting a union will be closed down. This will not affect the profits any more than than when all of the clubs suddenly closed in January and Sam’s cannot compete with Costco anyways. H.O. focus has been with on line sales and competing with Amazon for the past 2 years and not about the clubs.

@fkd - Will Sam's really shut down every one of their clubs if a real movement of a union materializes? Think of all the business that will go to BJ's, CostCo and the others and the lost profits. (Good luck on the union!)

Yes. We will see.

I heard that Walmart got rid of meat cutters because of the threat of a union. And I fully believe that if Walmart gets wind of a union attempt, they will send their anti-union swat team in to either pressure people to vote no or if that doesn’t work they’ll probably find a reason to close the club.

And really, nobody wants union dues auto-deducted from their paycheck. If you can’t convince people that the money they’re going to lose to be part of the union is worth it, you’ll never get the vote passed.

Besides, how many Sam’s club employees have money to donate every month on dues? They are paycheck to paycheck as it is. Why do you think nobody makes good money working at club level? You can’t AFFORD to organize.

We will see who called it correctly. You should all just shut your mouths and be glad you have a job at all.
