Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Calling all the clean up crew

Does Allstate have a handle on things? Employees seem to be dropping like flies in CA, while others are here cleaning up the ABO’s awesome work. Let’s move past the “ you can leave “ comments while it’s not the cards for everyone. Long time employees are smart by staying...who would pass up that severance?

A good approach. The severance will be there, but job opportunities may not be. If something good presents itself, and you have 5+ years to work, forget the severance. A tough choice.

Yes, good advice indeed... This is exactly what I’m doing... Wait for severance. Of course, I will only wait so long. If nothing is offered within my designated timeframe, I will simply leave on my own. Life is way to short.

The sev erance for the company is what it's always been..as someone stated below 2 weeks for every year of service up to one year of salary. I have friends that got the full year's salary for 30 plus years with the company when they closed offices in CA several years ago. They know what they are doing. They will close when it becomes financially the thing to do for the office involved. I say if you are not in a position to relocate and are younger, look for other jobs now, get out there and market yourself and find something. If you are over 50 and have 20 plus years with the company, may want to sit it out and wait for the severance. It all of course depends on your circumstance and finances.

Do they have a handle on things ? This is what happens when the business environment in a state dictates a decision. They’re getting out of the state. Those that stay will get severance. Those eligible for jobs and mobile will go to Arizona. Yes, employees will be “dropping like flies” until they shut down ship in the state. It’s expected. If the workload demand exceeds capacity, it will be moved to other out of state locations.

I would imagine that severance for anyone with 5 years or less will not amount to anything significant. On the other hand, if you have over 20 years, you have a choice to make.
