@1kac I'm sure he meant one of the next two Thursdays, Sears always closes a bunch of stores along side an earnings report.

Altoona, PA is a distribution store for the NE, I doubt they will close that unless they give up on the NE period.

No one really knows what stores are closing. Pure speculation. Rumors are running rampant and no list is compiled.

From what I know and what I'm seeing those VA and MD stores are going to potentially be decimated. I don't have as much info on the PA or other northeastern stores. Of the posted list below of 25 stores there is high likely hood that at least half those 25 will be impacted soon. Stay tuned and buckle your seat belts.

I am the person who posted the theoretical list. I meant to include the Columbia, MD store, but just forgot to type it in.

What about Columbia MD, a remodeled store with sales down? It is a leased property.

Why can't they just go ahead and close Grove City Ohio take a lot of stress off of everyone's shoulders

There are more Pa stores being looked at. It will be some that seem to be doing well. Just a rumor but a strong one.

Correct about Bethesda, BUT just because they are looking at March 2019 for closure at the moment does not mean it might not be effectively shut down before then....plans change ;-)

Bethesda is definitely closing. Already slated to close end of March 2019.

Here is a potential watch list:

Charlottesville, VA

Winchester, VA

Fredericksburg, VA

Fairfax, VA

Alexandria, VA

Manassas, VA

Falls Church, VA

Dulles, VA

Gaithersburg, MD

Waldorf, MD

Westminster, MD

Frederick, MD

Cumberland, MD

Bethesda, MD

Silver Spring, MD

Baltimore, MD

Bel Air, MD

Anapolis, MD

Glen Burnie, MD

Bowie, MD

Salisbury, MD

Altoona, PA

Du Bois, PA

Greensburg, PA

Harrisburg, PA

The DC metro area and the mid Atlantic area have not been hit hard yet by closures like other parts of the country....this time they are likely to start getting hit. Compared to the rest of the county this area is still highly saturated with Sears stores. Eventually they will need to be thinned out.

The indication seems to be that the stores slated for closure are in the northern VA area up through the DC metro area into DE and then farther north.
