Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

6.5% Comp! Best in years, nice. But How?

In today’s retail this is good. But how? Well, let’s eliminate more clubs- check, let’s eliminate more positions- check, let’s not account for inventory correctly- check. Umm, what elses. Poor hourly wages and cutting hours helps a little, so expensive should be ok. Re evaluate management and get rid of management at Club level leaving less experience with lower salary management. That works. Eliminating process is good by eliminating paperwork. Nice that saves money in the long run so cut those clerks that make more saves money. Pushing Ecommerce helps grow online and although paying IT professional is high, it cuts the hourly at Club level from getting paid. Overall, Sams Club on a roll. If up to me I would cut more hourly position, eliminate a couple of Club level management positions, and push scan and go our automated cashiers. Lets’s Get That Comp Higher Next Quarter. Home office needs bigger bonuses! It’s a tech world. No room to pay hourly club associate. Go ahead and continue to push corporate objectives. If I was an hourly I would be asking more questions instead of congratulating the larger comp with nothing to show for as an hourly.

They are cutting payroll every week to make budget. Sales are down and when sales are down our hours are cut to make it look good.

The job they offer has to be comperable to the job you have and theres no other job in the club that comes close to Rec clerck ...... so , yes , they have to offer you a package ..... look up your job discription

Piss on comp should be worried about the thousands of dollars being keyed out at every club. Shrink is out of control.

Uhhhh does nobody know what "comps" means? Comparable sales Y/Y. Nothing to do with payroll or shrink. Probably not even closing clubs had an impact since in some areas they withdrew from markets. It's their push in fresh and club pickup.

lower volume clubs that absorbed closing club business but thier budget wasnt adjusted to reflect that so they look like superstars

So their plan is to offer the invoice clerks a job that they don’t know anything about so that they can lay them off when refused. How sneaky can you get! You can’t pay some severances as you choose a few months apart and some dismissed without any severance.
