Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is VLSS finally dead? If so, thank God!

You people with time in the company know what I'm talking about when I say - what the hell were the upper management geniuses thinking when they that put this VLSS anchor around our necks?

@4zzi I had a primary care physician do the same. He took his practice private payment only. He lasted about 18 months. He had lots of correspondence with existing patients myself included but was unable to get many to go the cash route. It cost him his practice. I now use his services through a medium size medical group that he is now an employee of. They take insurance. He is a great doctor with good bedside manner but a terrible businessman.

@3ftq, your description of the current decrepit state of medical care in the US is spot on.

The Canadians and Western Europeans are light years ahead and could school us.

However, our medical research is on a par with France, so there’s hope @3ftq.

Don’t worry brother, the US will one day catch up.

BTW, I knew a doctor that transformed into an MD that would only treat you if you forked over a hefty annual fee. He appeared to have been having great difficulty getting patients to pay big $ for the “honor” of being seen by him. Kept reaching out to me over a very extended period when I dropped him because of his greed.

@3wnb and @3ftq who, I suspect are the same agenda-driven individual, I do not want to get in the way of your argument with facts but, here goes nothing.

I got excellent treatment in Spain, just as good as in a big city in States, and better than in a US rural area ( I’ve experienced both ). Prior to my treatment, the treating physician and hospital were unaware of my background, nor of my ability to pay. They knew nothing of my insurance status at the time of rreatment.

No one was pushed aside so I could be take the head of the line. A nurse or PE working triage ranked the severity of the small group in the emergency waiting room and took a far more severely injured peeson before me. Others saw to the remaining patients in short order.

I apologize if my reality does not agree with your notions about a system you have no familiarity with. I do not expect to change your mind, because I believe it may be closed to things you do not want to hear, and hearing the truth would mean you’re wrong and have been lied to by your talk radio heroes.

@3ftq All these bonehead flag waving Republican Capitalists can't explain to the rest of us why they claim to love Jesus so much, yet when any politician wants to try and give every American health care coverage or raise the minimum wage to a livable wage these same phony Christians immediately call that politician a "commie" ?????

All these bonehead socialists have this mistaken belief that everything else remains the same when things start going the socialist route. I am seeing it firsthand here in my rich part of the US with certain doctors that refuse to take any insurance (can you think of a better way to guarantee yourself high-dollar clients and keep out the medicare riff raff) and others that change their practice and start forcing you to either pay a yearly fee to gain access to their concierge practice or go somewhere else. I went somewhere else. As insurance companies and the government put on more and more of a single-payer squeeze, more and more doctors are giving them the finger and we start seeing scarcity, the natural by-product of socialism. But if you have the cash, you can always find a willing doctor here, in Spain or anywhere.

So your non-socialized insurance repaid Spain. Of course you got good treatment because your insurance was paying in hard cash. They probably chucked out 3 of their socialized medicine patients so they could pull in your dollars. Just think about it. Does a doctor prefer to work with a patient on private insurance or one on medicare where they get pennies on the dollar?

There was no out-of-pocket. My insurance reimbursed Spain.

How much did it cost to get your leg taken care of in Spain?

@1spx, your comment deserves a thousand thumbs up. I'd like to ask these Hannity/Limbaugh brainwashed zombies if they're going to give up their own SS or Medicare, or if they feel that the $700+ billion dollar per year military budget is "socialism" for corporations? Half the country seems to be tricked by billionaire funded front groups into going against their own best interests.

@wyy, I disagree. Socialism appears to be working quite well in Canada and in Western Europe. Socialized medicine too. I broke my leg while visiting Spain, and the medical treatment I received was top notch.

Some people in this country spread disinformation regarding socialism because the status quo here is making them a fortune and any change that might benefit the public at large poses a threat to their greed. Then dupes buy into it because their handlers have hoodwinked them, the simpletons.

I do however agree that LSS would not work in Canada or Western Europe either.

@zep sounds like one of those people who still think Socialism works. It's proven detrimental time and time again leaving devastation in its wake yet every time they insist "That wasn't real Socialism/VLSS!"

zep, besides the availability of a bridge for sale in Brooklyn, you should also know of the importance of balancing the 4 humors as a means of good health, and to stay away from the edge of the earth, should you risk falling off.

@zep, let me guess, green belt?

LSS chart monkeys have a well-documented history of destroying viable enterprises, IMO, and those responsible seem to too often fall back to the “but, it wasn’t done right...” How gullible are we supposed to remain?

It is in no way a “sound” concept, IMO.

Just because you’ve bought into and wasted time with a false god doesn’t add to its validity.

The simplist way to test a theory is to look at its results. One could argue that LSS disciples such as Circuit City, GE, Motorola, Albertsons, are not experiencing the best of results. One website maintains a full 91% of “58 large companies that have announced SS programs have trailed the S&P 500.”

The concept is sound. It's not an appropriate tool for every problem. There are opportunities for improvement where LSS can be used effectively.

Management at every company I have worked at wants to prove the Time-Quality-Cost triangle false. No wonder management takes to VLSS and other such concepts
