Never been to this thing, so cannot specifically speak to it but, @4jop, if you think the boomers enjoy sitting through seminars taught by enthusiatic deluded kids, you’re mistaken.

BTW, I agree with you regarding your generation’s natural ability to absorb info rapidly, schooling be damned, needing a short course if you need to know something via, say, googling, or watching a video. Young airline pilots should be trained this way, following your credo, “....people my age who just want to know how to do my job and let me run with it.”
4 days of expenses that probably could have been done in 2 hours of online courses spread over a month. I know there are psychologists out there who talk up how performance improves after these type of events, but that really is just for the older folks. I know people my age (born in 86) who just want to know how to do my job and let me run with it. Don't give me cheerleader speeches. That's Baby Boomer stuff. If I need to know something, I'll google it, take a short course, or watch a video. This probably is costing millions for something that should cost thousands.
I’m proud to say I was QB at VLU, leading the team in passing and rushing, and finishing last season with a team-leading 5 MVP games. We crushed AT&T in the Bell Bowl.
What a waste of 27 million dollars. I left the company in July after going to that joke show in May. The best part was the tiramisu and going to a Nationals game. The manufactured enthusiasm was the absolute worst. The whole thing reeked of desperation.
Think about it. You send all these managers across the country, sequester them off from the outside world (they make you stay on-site in dorms that were built in the 1970s in the middle of nowhere), force feed them kool aid and by the time they get home, the company has changed the commission structure.
This forces managers to do one of two things, they can double down on the kool-aid and be a corporate puppet or they see the bigger picture and move on. Leadership academy was designed to create this division and sow faux loyalty with certain personality types at a time when Verizon knew they were going to screw the front line and create conflict. Never underestimate how sneaky this company can be.
The only positive things about it was I got to claim my mileage and be out of my store for a week. Maybe in the next round of layoffs, our trainers get to participate.
Joke. Like everything else this toilet of a company does.
A girl I know who used to not give a sh-- about her job and fight with management somehow got promoted to manager. She went to the leadership academy and came back and started micromanaging the sh-- out of us and being a passive aggressive b--ch. So obviously they made her drink the kool aid pretty hard
Uh oh watch out something is lurking out in the distance. I work for wireline and they did the leadership academy for us back in February of 2016. Gave us a bunch of bs training and also learned things that our direct reports do. Hence the work stoppage happened almost 60
Days later. It was a way to train all of us to prepare.

It was for wireless and yes it was a big waste of time. Hey Verizon upper management! How about you save some jobs and not waste money on this worthless training.
