Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Heres my take on this whole issue

Yes everyone does have options, but that doesn’t address a problem that faces VZW workers. Why a company that keeps pumping profits and constantly rewards their CEOs with bonuses, pay increases and golden parachutes constantly play with the frontline workers pay and jerks them around. Its a sad state of affairs when your own workers don’t know if they will make a paycheck or not, not because they’re not selling and not because they’re not trying but because the company they work for is basically punishing them for working for them. Think about that...

@2oas you are right it is too late for the wireless people. They should have unionized 20 years ago. Things would be much better for all now except maybe the shareholders.

Good to know there are some other smart people out there that get what Verizon is doing with the call centers....have known all alone that hba is jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

"Home based -- expendable".

While I was still working for Verizon -- call centers were closing. (I had worked for XO Internal Voice Operations, and was responsible for the changes to employee phones.) Almost everyone who was switched to home based was gone within six months. Many within three months.

I always get a kick out of how people who went home based think how great it is and how great Verizon is for doing so. They have no idea how much more expendable they have just become. Clueless sheep

Verizon wireless employees drank the koolaid and most are still drinking it. They believed that going union would be a bad thing. Store reps are not making money and call center reps that go home based will be outsourced. Yet the wireline side just got their contract extended to 2023. Now it is too late for them to go union.
