Lots of cameras in a huge store is not really a big deal. My store has 130 cameras and they still have lots of spots uncovered or only covered from a distance. I have been in the office trying to help ASTL see a customer I saw stealing and I was just amazed at how lousy the coverage was with 130 cameras. Big gaps, poor detail, and darn near impossible to track someone moving across storefrom one zone to another (50,000 square foot store opened in 2008 so it is real big.) the older camera systems just s--- but I have heard that the ones they are selling these days are more practical and have HD.

Cant be naive if we dont have issues with our stl using the cams the proper way. If your stl is using them just to “spy on tms” then you have a bigger problem. Tipline is there for a reason. You can always confront your stl bout it and record the conversation. Wfm changed that policy. You don't need approval to record conversations anymore. Not every stl is an ahe

Lil hitler and his assistant who work in the florida region have long loved to take screenshots off the cameras to implicate or investigate "perceived" issues with team members..they almost never used the cameras to surveil the customers..

Minimize theft and customers/tms claims. Thats all folks. If your stl/astl is on the comp watching the cams all day dont bother; just call tip line and they’ll come get him/her out of the office. The cams are not to spy on tms. My astl stl only sees cameras when something happens aside from that they rarely watch that thing. True bout some stores not having cameras or old cameras. They needed to upgrade most of them. Dont bother w the expirement. They can just pull your receipt from register wo calling you to office. everything is fine folks.

The cameras are for both tms and phony injury claims where there are no witnesses to injury of a tm in a cooler or freezer. WFM went from a few claims to ridiculous. Tms have learned how to scam the company in many ways. Eating in the cooler or freezer is both theft and a Health Dept violation. Either way the company is taking a much closer look at team members. Trust me or not.

Do a experiment. Next time you buy lunch a protein bar or a sandwich or a drink eat it in the cooler or dish room. And see if you get called to the office. But keep your receipts! I'm pretty sure there for slip and falls though

For a stupid a$$ astl to justify their position. Stare at the cameras and hope for the slightest screw up and then ruin someone’s life. Our store had one. Didn’t know a thing about numbers. Wire pig tails every day and stared at the camera. The turnover rate was unreal. But hey team member happiness.

Nothing see here move along. Lots of wfm stores have sh--ty cameras n some dont even have any. They not even HD. Especially old stores. Check and see. Its just lp thing. It was supposed to happen few yrs back but costs money so they slowly doing it. Dont believe me? Go to an old store n make up a story that your wallet got lost n u think some one robbed u. They wont shw u the cameras because they dont have any lol. But they supposed to so now all stores getting them unless u new or opened in the past 5 yrs or less. Relax people this is just part of any biz w cameras.

Cameras are a great way to see which TMs aren’t working, who is eating food in the cooler, who is stealing . Better than a wristband for efficiency because it’s saved on a hard drive for when the team member tries to say they didn’t do it. Many STLs want cameras in the coolers. Maybe Amazon is asking for more cameras. Best loss prevention ever.

They did that at my store a few years ago..forever we only had like 10 cameras then they installed like 40..even in everybody cooler and freezers...lol..but not in parking lot for car accidents, fights between customers, vandalism and theft,or a cashier assistant hitting car with carts,etc...

50 cameras is i overkill for loss prevention I would think something else is up. Amazon is capable of changing things very quickly they know Walmart is playing with new tech they don't wan't get beat.Which store is the 50 cameras going in?

LP is a joke at WFM. Some have no cameras in the aisles and some have no cameras at all in the entire store. We pay a ton of money out for slip and fall lawsuits because there is no footage of these events, nevermind the rampant theft.

It's for loss prevention. Your store was identified as a higher risk at some point. Amazon Go is still a ways away, at least five years.
