Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Operational Excellence = Job Security?

One of my business partners is assigned to the Operational Excellence project that is in Phase 2 right now. Apparently it is a multi phase project over several years. This partner is under the impression that as long as they are connected to this project (and contribute as expected), they have job security. This person is pretty close to retirement and thinks they can hang on to their job without fear of job loss based on this project assignment. Thoughts?

Operational Excellence - that term being used at BofA is a joke in itself! Could be a good moved as they have no way making anything her at this place Excellent! Do yourself a favor and get out.

What is really funny the bank does not realize when you leave the bank you are now a potential customer of the bank - they never get that single simple point - needless to say none of my money is at the bank any longer - and I tell all my friends what a poorly run place this is - and to use other companies!!

If it has the word "Excellence" in it, it is a pet project that will fail. I have seen several "Excellence" programs fail over time. They are always championed by someone who ends up leaving.

In my opinion nobody from the top to the bottom in this company is "safe".

As someone who has also participated in the OE phase 2 efforts - I would not take it as a sign of job security at all. It looks good for year end accomplishments and will give you some visibility with senior leadership, sure. But if you are otherwise not performing at a high level, your involvement in the OE work will not likely save you. It definitely doesn’t hurt, though.

I work for another company but OE has extended several careers here. People who were almost out the door were saved by OE. It will take at least five years before the company realizes OE is worthless. In the meantime, OE people are untouchable.
