Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Promotion to layoff

What's with promoting people and laying them off right after that? I know of two people who were promoted and laid off within six months. Once could have been a coincidence, bad luck, whatever, but twice?

Is there something Cisco can gain with this? I wouldn't be surprise to learn something like that is the case.

My understanding is that VPs and SVPs are on 3 year contracts so keeping them costs less probably unless they start making decisions that are counterproductive.

There is an SVP with 0 reports. He can sleep all day and no one will notice. Dream job.

Maybe the "Gamechanger" award is a hint that the game is about to change for you :)

"Gamechanger" award

What is that, a connected recognition award or something more profound?

In our group, even low performers get 2 connected recognition awards per year. Top performers get 4 to 5 of them per year.

I recieved an SVP nominated "Gamechanger" award in November, and was LR'd in March...four months later.

Sad to go...no guarantees in life ..

@UMcEgEF-atc Sweatshop never brings products and customers. It can only help run maintenance.

it is because the Cisco "management" team cannot tell their arse from their elbow. Spineless wanking arseholes almost to a man.

Simple math. Eliminating 1 grade 13+ means saving 5 grade 8. A smart manager keeps youthful talent at a sweatshop

It is how Cisco avoids legal action.

They “eliminate roles” instead of using performance metrics. and by doing so they layoff recently promoted to have proof that it is not discriminatory
