If they're planning on closing more stores, wouldn't there have to be another management restructuring coming? But by reading below, I see how TL are being giving more management tasks and called hourly managers... Maybe the next restructure will just be straight layoffs all around? Just playing the guessing game...

You need a good manager to stand behind or with the TL. Ours won't let the leads do coachings. The GM anyway, it's a body we can't lose them by making them mad. Most of our managers are as bad as a lot of the employees. They don't care, just do enough to get by with. Our GM is on vacation at least one week out of every month.
I am a fresh TM and my manager and CM never let me be involved in any hiring, firing, coaching or anything. I have complained before, and got nowhere. He hires id--ts and people who can't work the hours, but he schedules them for the hours knowing they can't do it. Our fresh manager is a pain in the you know what! I finally told them, I'm not a TL, I'm just a fill in for all the people who call in due to not being able to work the schedule. Now I can maybe have more say. I wish this could get rid of my current fresh manager, but I highly doubt that. But I do believe this will be the demise of more management down the road. Money saving move for the company again.

That’s not correct TL’s have never had the option to do any of those things, without a manager involved. The only way you had full access was if a manager signed on.......in so many clubs managers are not willing to give their sign on to you!
The TLs haven't been giving more tasks. TLs have always had these abilities. Its just been up to that TL to take the initiative. The Workday app just makes it easier to use... I am a TL and I have always been involved in hiring coachings and some terminations in my department
