Hey marketing team. Why can't you just say all deli meats & cheeses on sale, pre-packaged or sliced to order. I saw an add "All charcuterie on sale" which means nothing to the average consumer that you are supposedly trying to appeal to. Who even uses that word?

Our store looks just like this

Maybe it's different in other WFM stores...actually I'm quite sure its different since every other aspect of our stores is drastically different depending on the location. Our deli is quite small. We have a handful of typical deli meats and a bunch of tuna salad, potato salad, type options and maybe one or two main dishes such as salmon or chicken. It's definitely nothing special.here are no real cured meats at our deli counter besides one salami and one prosciutto. If the deli counter was a real charcuterie, we would have an edge over the other markets in the area as long as we could hire TMs that were actually interested in providing quality food and would educate themselves on what they are selling. Most other conventional markets in the area have more options, including organic, nitrate-fee, etc.
The prep foods dept in our store in general is always a sh---show and is always out of whatever they are supposed to be promoting. I always feel embarrassed when I walk by customers looking at the hot bar since its always half empty and a mess. Our cheese dept on the other hand is pretty impressive and the TMs in specialty are very educated on their product. I think prep foods needs an overhaul.
Charcuterie is actually a term referring to a deli that specializes in meats and meat dishes prepared an artisinal manner. I suppose referring to it as Artisnal would have been moresuitable since i seriously doubt that counter actully functions as a true charcuterie, but still has specialty items sprinkled in.
Any team member worth half a damn would have asked...people who complain about lack of training often have no drive to learn in the first place. Especially with something as mundane as this.
Challenge to all team trainers. Ask your new hires who have not been programmed yes what a charcuterie is. Results....
3 - don't know
1 - type of cheese?
1 - spa/salon?
In my area the guests have completely changed. Even if we try to tactfully educate we stand a good chance of getting a face full of attitude and anger. They really don’t want to be educated. They think we’re putting them down. It’s uncomfortable and embarrassing.
And apparently TMs no longer have the ability to use tact to educate.
Hello sir thank you for shopping at whole foods. Since you are ignorant, p[lease be informed that we call our deli a charcuterie. Please refer to it in that manner going forward. Thank you.
It used to be the job of Whole Foods team members to educate customers on the products sold there. Unfortunately the team members these days don't even bother to educate themselves on the products...and push back against the bougie stuff that pays your wages. Nice work.
Hey bud you can try it tonight at the end of the day then that looks like a little out of the fridge over night several times so no worries on that order for me and see if he responds to the new store on midway and the are against the end there was like yeah no sh-- not sure and request off for the happiness is just a loser man I've got to the seeded part of it yet to be in charge of the day then that s---s for the first time and they have a bee farm in my own terms of the day then that s---s for the first time in my life I mean I can only be the 19th to do you.
Only rich kids that took trips abroad speak like this. Our "charcuterie" is a f---ing typical american deli counter that serves the same sh-- that every supermarket deli serves.
It's next to the fromagerie, just like at pigly wiggly.
12 years no customer ever asked for that
I just asked 20 CUSTOMERS at my store and they asked me what language is that lol or they didnt understand what I said so I had to write it down for some and still no answer. Some thought it had to do something with cartoons lol no bull. True story.
More often people ask where is salami or cured meats, but I've have several people ask about charcuterie over my 20 years at WFM.
Fourteen years never been asked for Charcutrie. Asked for deli meat or deli section.
I have worked at WF for many years never had anyone ask me where the Charcutrie was.
TM's might not understand this word, but store leadership, shoppers, and other people of the world recognize it. Just ask someone what it means and they'll tell you.
It’s a bit of a pretentious term but it fits right at home at WFM. Plus, nobody that works there calls it that. Sure, the sign says charcuterie but the TM’s just say prep foods.
"Pardon me, could you direct me to your charcuterie?" I'm not clear why you are complaining OP. This is perfectly standard vernacular. Are you a savage that eats salad with a dinner fork?
I would ask my marketing but we got none. They got canned. Ouch....
"un the usual" ...these people are brilliant.
Charcuterie is a well-known term for cured meats etc. just because you’re ignorant doesn’t meant everyone is. Find something more constructive to complain about.
They use fancy schamsy names to jack up the price. For shame Amazon.
The marketing teams have always been arrogant and narcissistic. No one can possibly know more than them. Try making a suggestion and see what you get.
