Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How do you change your address for Intel 401K account after leaving Intel?

Has any ex-Intel employee tried updating their personal address for Netbenefit/401K accounts? The Fidelity Netbenefit website says to contact Intel, but how do you change address if you don't have access to employee portal?

Appreciate any help!

Just call Fidelity. I did this last week. You do not need to call Intel or contact Intel.

Here is what Intel EASE website says about ex-employees changing address:

To continue receiving important information regarding your 401(k) and/or Profit Sharing Accounts, you must contact Fidelity directly at 1-888-401-7377 to update your personal information and address changes.

I did not change my home address, the agent just verified it. Sorry for the confusion. I assumed since he asked, that he could/would change it also.

I just tried to see if I could do a backdoor method of performing an address change by initiating a withdrawal, but it would not let me. It looks like going through Intel is the only route I see.

@wht did you actually get the home address changed on your Intel 401K netbenefit account by calling fidelity? Home address is the only item they don't let you change online, phone number and email can be updated through fidelity website.

There seem to be conflicting info here. Some people are saying they can change address by calling fidelity while others had to call Intel.

I called Fidelity last week with an unrelated question regarding tax withholding, and the agent asked me if I wanted to update my personal info, including my address, email, and phone number, which was my old Intel number.

I got all the information I needed promptly and all the changes made too. Maybe it depends on the competence of the agent answering the phone. I was asked all the standard types of security questions to verify my identity

You HAVE TO call Intel about this . I think it MIGHT have been the entire time I was under Intel's "wing" and still receiving COBRA. I found it extremely annoying that I was not allowed to change my OWN personal information!!! Especially when Intel kept F-ing it up!! I was not at all happy about this rule of theirs to hold your personal information under their control after you've retired from the company. I spent so many hours on the phone making numerous calls until it was finally right.. it was so infuriating.

What really ticked me off was after hours and numerous calls, they finally got it right. Then one day I receive a confirmation mail with my "recent address changes" showing they CHANGED THEM BACK TO MY OLD ADDRESS. I was like WTF?!?!?! Seriously???

Sorry for the rant. I hate when I can't control my OWN stuff and at the mercy of someone else to take care of for me when I can obviously do it better!!!!

Ugh. I just searched my emails to find the phone number and I found an email I had forgotten about. Here's another huge problem I had. They do this batch send of info from Intel HR to Fidelity and anyone else you have business with that initiated at Intel. The problem is if there is a no new info to change TO, then that field does NOT get overwritten. IOW, if you no longer have a business phone, then your old business phone number will not be erased, info can only be changed.

That one was a huge getcha for me too. I got a letter from Fidelity about "important information" they were trying to get to me but it bounced back from my work email address. I think the problem is how the receiving end receives the batched data. A blank field from Intel won't clear out that field at Fidelity, it needs data in the field in order for it to change it to something.

So, what I would do when you call to change your info, cover with the person ALL fields they have. I think my fix was to have then fill all fields with something . IOW, all phone number fields (cell, home, work, evening phone, day phone) would have your phone number in them, even if you only have ONE phone number. That clears the fields when the batch gets sent over. Otherwise they will have old info (like my work email that kicked my "important information" back to them. So make sure your email goes in all email fields as well. That will overwrite your work info.

Live Agent: I will be happy assisting you with your personal information

Live Agent: however, in order to update your information with Fidelity please contact Intel Health Benefit Center directly

Live Agent: This is their phone number 877-466-9236

Good luck. :)

@nvh

I don't see a way to update my address under Profile tab on NetBenefits my 401K website. I can change my email and phone number. But for address it has a link "Find out how to update this information" which then pops up a side bar which says to call your employer to change address.

I guess I might just have to call Fidelity or HR directly as what others have mentioned.

I happened to update my info just last week. I went to the Fidelity net benefits website (the one where you check your account balances daily) and clicked on my 401(k). It will guide you from there, and there is a phone number to call if you want assistance.

I did discover that if you change your address there is a ten day delay in distribution of funds.

Thank you all for your help. I've only tried changing address online from Netbenefits website. But it says to contact employer so I didn't try calling fidelity directly. Can you please share the Intel EASE number?
