@ iayk hate will not improve your situation organizing will. Yes wireline is entitled and rightfully so. The contractual language we enjoy was hard won but well worth the fight. You seem to be the only one complaining here others seek layoff information or general company news.

OP There is rarely whining coming from the wireline side other than some first levels who are unfairly RIF prone. (I honestly feel bad for most of them) The vast majority of the people I work with are very financially fit and on track for a nice retired life in the coming months and few years(there are of course a few bonehead exceptions). Most are just padding the wallet at this point. I suspect the union people are on this site to check out EISP and layoff rumors as I am. They go hand in hand. A surplus and potential layoff contractually obligates the company to offer us retirement incentives. Many come here to see what may have been heard by others. If you don't like that go to the wireless site or don't read the wireline posts. Better yet why not unionize and improve your lot in life. You assuredly would then earn more have better working conditions and benefits than you currently do. Then you to would wish to seek out EISP rumors.

That aside, there’s too much gloating about 401k and pension amounts here. A little discretion would be appreciated, and this is from someone on your side of the house.

Then you would add the 450k pension on top of that giving them a total of 1.450 million. That would give them 58k per year for their annual expenses based on the 4% rule not including their SS income. Is that a better explanation your lordship ?

I may choose to stay the 5 more years. If an EISP is offered I would be tempted to leave. The extra money while unneeded would none the less be nice.
I will be leaving in 16 months. Sooner than that if I am offered an EISP.

$450,000 is peanuts? Using the “4% rule” that most financial advisors recommend, that’s about 18K per year. Lol.

I’m glad the contract was extended, now I am hoping for an EISP to add to my pension.
My 5 yr contract, my $450,000 pension cash out, and my $115,000 EISP are not exactly "troubles" my wireless non-union friend....
There is a huge difference...wireline is asking questions about the subjects that you have mentioned....which is the purpose of this site...while wireless people come here to cry and complain. You should try crying on the wireless board....because we don’t want to hear it.
