Open Availability

Any other clubs have managers forcing all associates to have open availability? Even those that are in school, have other jobs, etc.

Can a full time associate be forced to? What if you have an availability form in before new management takes over a Club? Can you be forced to change it or go down to part time?

Our club has only 35hrs for most full time associates. We have never had 40 hrs. Hard to get everything accomplished with such few hours. What can you do nothing but find another job. I need a job but it’s hard to pay bills on few hours.

Yes it has t be honored, but no they do not have to give you your hours. If you limit your availability all they have to do is say you are not needed during the times you are available. What are you talking about here? One day a week that you can’t work past a certain time OR you want to work Monday through Friday 6-2. Makes a huge difference!!

If you read the availability sheet it does not say full time associates have to have open availability but your manager can choose not sign it also. The whole full time associates have to have open availability is a cultural thing and you would need to set down with your manager and see what compromise you could find since it's not a policy BUT if you already have an availability sheet on file and approved by previous management then it has to be honored.

I know it’s been said for years but where is it on paper or in the policy that a full timer has to have open availability? I can’t find it anywhere

What a bunch of a$$holes. Can't wait to jump into someone'sh--. Poster didn't say anything about not working weekends. So in other words, if you can't add a positive comment, move along. No one needs the sarcasm.

Gotta love all these full timers that absolutely cannot work weekends at a retail job.

OPEN AVAILABILITY! If it’s a problem, step down to Part Time.

Shouldn't have any availability issue unless your part time. If you are full time you should be able to work whatever or whenever. But since most of you are snowflakes and complain I'm sure you probably hate having to close or work weekends. Probably wanna work what you wanna work. Its retail you work what the business needs. If you dont drop to pastime or quit

Full time is supposed to have open availability, but it’s the GM’s who have the final say. If you have a descent GM they’ll work with you if it’s not Monday through Friday, you will need to be willing to give as well.

I believe to have guaranteed 40 hours you have to have open availability or every full timer would be saying they were unavailable to work Saturdays.
