There are far too many layers of Managers what is the real
Value of the MM / FMM or RGM levels it’s just ridiculous. The excuse is Clubs can it escalate without their skillful guidance. That’s total bull sh-- and any Club Manager , ASM, or TL know it’s true. Add in Pharmacy M, and Optical crew it’s a total Sh-- Show. The most successful operator in the segment . Yes Costco , has a Club Mngr after him/ her it is a RVP who reports to Divisional Exec VP who ultimately report to President . Clubs at the Competitor have Zero Supervison standing on their necks. Are our Teams as good? Who knows they with very very few exceptions ever get or had the chance. In Costco you own the god the bad and the ugly. You are Accountable but fully responsible to operate your business. It is a different level of trust and professionalism.
That grows Cnfidence Talent and people. Think about the quality of Market level personnel. It’s really embarrassing. It’s not the quality of Club Teams , it’s a mo--nic , archaic outdated culture, that is stifling growth , creativity and common sense . We who run Clubs all know this is Fact! Add to that our Good ole Boy inner Circle, yes Doug, John that would be Y’all. Let’s not forget the PC Police and Diversity over substance and talent and you have a mix for a very Toxic brew . This cannot attract viable talent any longer . The Company and anyone else know this to be so. The Sam’s shares OK if the budget is teal and you get there. Big If. Salaries for CM below Costco and in many cases Supermarket Operators.
The Sam’s Share is taxed to death treated as reg income. You are murdered in taxes then forced to pay at year end to address an inflated Gross earnings number so on balance it s---s! Rather Stock Options a 7500 raise yearly from Costco and a 40 % Max bonus is fine when you’re earning a base 125 Min to 160 and above!

Great when it happens but should be extra.
Pay is grossly inadequate unless like older managers they were grandfathered in. Otherwise you don’t make want a premium pay Supermarket in Metro areas pays its ASMs. Much less GMs ... Company s---s. I have been looking seriously and at the very first chance I’m gone. Who wants to wait for next Bloodbath due anytime after we kill ourselves through the Holidays . Over worked, micro managed by ncompetent leaders who just do not understand Club Operations in the 21 st century. Do not accept realty.
Think of it this way, if you do not delay self gratification plan ahead , you will never be successful. This Company is playing Month to Month. BAG to BAG..No “ Road Map “ to the future!! None at all. If you’re drinking the Kool aid . I’You’re in need of a Savior. Unfortunately this Company I served 18 yrs is gone! I know it, just trying to hang in until a better opportunity arises. Even for less money. Peace of mind and less stress is worth more. This sh-- has become life threatening. We are all one black door visit or a--hole plane ride away from ending our Careers on any given day! Any GM being honest knows it’s true. As for the MM and Co they are the problem, and will never have solutions. Just point fingers blame you and throw your asses under the bus at the first chance or sign of trouble. Who have they ever helped?? Really..
