Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sad, sad, sad

I find it sad and ridiculous that Sears is partnering with Amazon, one of the main reasons of its demise, once more in hopes of staying afloat maybe a month or two longer from initial publicity bump.

Amazon is the only one that is going to profit from this, yet we are the ones touting the deal.

I wonder how much lower we can go than this.

@USDaN0Q-njs: Let's be honest. Brick and mortar department stores will soon be relegated for cheapskates, who don't have any intention of buying anything and wasting employees' time. The only brick and mortar store that will have any relevancy, in terms of consumer sales on a major scale, are the grocery stores, supermarkets, and d--g stores.

Meh, better than doing nothing I guess. Maybe Sears will still be around in some form, even if the big box mall stores aren't.

Kmart already went bankrupt once and should have just been shut down then because they'd already lost at that point.

Sears has been in a perpetual state of decline since the early 80's maybe earlier. All one has to do is look at the typical Sears store that hasn't been updated since then to know this.

But yeah, Amazon did it. Before they even existed. They are that powerful.

"This company going out of business has nothing to do with Amazon."

Agree 100%. Good B&M retail is doing well.

Oh how id--tic these investors are. They look at these Sears Automotive Centers as separate entities of the stores, when in fact, they're not. As a store closes, the Automotive Center goes away, as if you didn't know.

So when you decide to chose Sears Automotive for your tire installation and they suddenly turn you away because the store is closing or some other BS excuse; guess what? It's you, the consumer, who will suffer from the wasted time and aggravation, because you had allowed them to influence your buying decision with their overinflated/under-delivered sales pitch.

Just wait until the bad reviews start coming in on Amazon and Yelp. They don't have the manpower to meet with demand.

I won’t buy tires online then drive 25 miles to nearest auto center for install. Especially when there are competively priced tire places within a couple of miles.

  • as a person in the 70's (age) I stopped shopping at Sears decades ago - long before the advent of Amazon & the online shopping experience - why: long lines, insufficient stock, surly store clerks, circling to find parking, the hassles of return process (a repeat of all of the above) inefficient use of time etc... etc...

This company going out of business has nothing to do with Amazon. It was designed to fail long ago before Amazon even existed.
