Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

My commission check is currently $312.17

and after taxes it will be around $218 f--- Verizon for playing with peoples money like this... this sh-- is not right. Us front line employees have given so much to this company to be treated like this. I have missed my daughters birthdays, came in sick and been a supporter for Verizon when others were down on the company. The new comp plan is the biggest slap in the face I have ever seen... I get it we are just numbers NOT employees anymore and we are disposable. How is it that I work for a fortune 500 company and struggle to pay rent? The only reason Verizon is successful is because of the work of us all NOT just the work of one greedy C.E.O.

Yeah it is sad for the managers that drink the Kool aid. This structure s---s a-- and is so random. They be stressing about getting pull through and we used to find a way for a customer to keep a tablet and add a new one but now there is not a single difference in just upgrading their current ones. No idea how the share holders approved of any of this

"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country."

" by living wages, I mean more than a bare an subsistence level - I mean the wages of a decent living. "

Franklin Delano Roosevelt the most elected president in our history.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it 5egb

OP, working for a Fortune 500 company means the company makes a lot of money. Does not guarantee you can pay rent. Walmart is a Fortune 500 company yet most associates are on welfare or some other benefit.

Stop depending on commission checks and learn to budget and live within your means. If you have the money and time, go back to school and get a real job.

for some perspective: apart from hourly, a typical new hire is guaranteed $1350 in commission during ramp up. with the new "phones only" quota, it doesn't matter if you are good at sales or not... getting the combination of customers that will buy everything and do it twice takes one up to about the same $ as a new hire if you are lucky. it used to be fun and a steady way to provide for a family. that's what jobs are for...now it's depressing working all month toward a dangling carrot only to decelerate once for lack of phones and once for lack of $ bucket. I feel bad for the managers trying to keep hope alive. it's over.

Any time you are relying on either commission or overtime to meet your financial responsibilities, you are most likely going to fail. Just saying.

Location location location. All these numbers nuts on here saying I hit 5k!!! Obviously work in a store where you can clerk and make bank or they slam their customers with unexessary sh--. I work at a store and just in the year I've been here I've seen our business decline sharply. They built a new store 10 mins up the road in the more affluent part of town and suddenly our numbers nose dive.. gee I wonder why? But seriously you guys in those newer stores have no perspective or empathy for what it's like in those highly competitive and dying stores.

For those of us in the union who don't understand this commission stuff, whats a typical break down of your base pay vs your commission.. when op says $400 check, what was a typical check in the past. Honest question. We are all grownups here so please no finger pointing. Let's try and learn what we are all up against.

For those of us that have no idea, what percentage of your salary is the commission check? It’s hard to judge if it’s just a bonus or if your salary is dependent on it.

I generated a check at the very end of the month but I will only get like $400-$500 before tax by far my lowest check ever. My last day was yesterday. Moving onto to a job where I get paid on everything I sell not just if I hit a b---s--- quota.

You should probably get out of the sales business. You don't sound like you're very good at it.

If the pay is so great why are reps constantly complaing. If the pay is to be incentive to work at VZW how come VZW keeps playing games with the pay?

McDonald's is a fortune 500 company, Walmart is a fortune 500 company the size of the company has nothing to do with pay scale. I would venture to say that your pay and benefits are better at Verizon than they would be at McDonald's or Walmart. Are we all just a number? Sure,

Whats even more sad is look at all the amount of products you sold throughout the month. All that and you only manage a little over $200 dollars? This is why this bucket and multiplier c-ap screws over workers. You should make straight commission for each sale.

Sell an Otter Box case you just made $10 bucks

Sell an Iphone you just made $50 bucks.

Rough examples but again why not just stick to a regular normal pay system. The reason is because it makes workers have to work harder to even hope they make a check. Tha'ts wrong again this is Verizon punishing the very people that work for them for basically doing the job they were hired for.
