Just received a letter from Verizon notifying me that my Retiree phone plan is REDUCING IT'S DISCOUNT BY 50% effective January 2019! That's a pretty big hit for a retiree.
Anyone else being hit with this?

Even with the 50% they’re still too expensive. Not work putting up with the shady company for 2 decades.
I'm so glad I don't work there anymore. They have no morals. The best thing to do if your unhappy with them is to show it and move to another carrier. I moved to Tmobile and couldn't be happier. I actually get full customer service as well none of this employee service c-ap.
They just keep on screwing me!
I heard T Mobile is even cheaper than the 25% discount .... heard a lot of people leaving to go to T Mobile
I see they are worried about profits but Marni's bonus was how many millions?
Unionize
Verizon is run by crooks and thieves. Verizon leaders are the most immoral pieces of garbage. May they and their families feel the same pain and suffering they inflicted on its employees. I wish none of them well.
I got the notice too and complained in writing. I was told that they had the right to change the plan. However, that information was never communicated to the wireless employees.
Has anyone considered a class action lawsuit?
Every penny counts

I got the same letter reducing the discount from 50% to 25% starting January 1, 2019. In a way, I'm glad to see others got the same notification. At least I wasn't singled out for this. I noticed googling around a bit that previous retirees got this notification of the switch from 50% off to 25% off after they were retired for a while - going back to around 2012 or thereabouts. Made me wonder if that's the standard practice after you're out a year or so, since that's about how long I've been gone now. Get you out the door happy (well, not real happy) with your 50% off, let the dust settle a bit on the trauma of losing your 20+ year career, and drop it to 25%. With 6 lines that will be a significant increase. Just hope they don't pull something like that with the pension. My kid who still works there says the EPP is still 50% and received no notification of any pending change on the EPP side, so I'm not sure I get the part of the letter about aligning with overall employee and retiree benefits. Oh well....Will be interesting to see what the current batch of former emps end up with after taking their (very nice) buyout deal.
You don’t tell someone for 30 years that you will receive a perk for a lifetime of hard word and then take it away from them. If they wanted to change their policy and had a modicum of class they would of drawn a line in the sand and grandfathered the 50% to those eligible and then reduced it to 25% for new hires.
Here is a list of businesses and their vz discounts...

Folks - your former company owes you Nothing- period! Did they hold a gun to your head and demand you stay for all those years?? Go find a cheaper plan through AARP and enjoy life🙏
My wife just stared working for a tiny regional medical company. We were thumbing through the benefits folder last night, turns out they offer their employees a 22% percent discount for Vz service.
WAY TO SCREW OVER YOUR RETIREES VERIZON!!! You took a benefit people work their entire careers for and you turn it into a Groupon.

25 years and now I get the same discount as the guy that shovels elephant sh*t at the circus.
Yes, I got this letter. Betrayed. I worked for VzW for 23 years until November 16, 2017 - the day I was laid-off. I feel betrayed and used. Thanks VzW for the depression and stress you have caused from being told "we're going with another candidate" for the 100th time, or an email that says "you are no being considered".
I'm depressed and bitter about the whole thing.
Thanks to anyone who read this I just needed to vent.
Same here. Letter followed the usual format of sharing what they thought is good news then casually dropping the bomb. The thing that gets me is the one way ticket out of the program while VZ can tweak all they want. Smells like a plan to purge the former employees, then bump it back up for current workers when the reduction target is achieved.
Yes, letter said they are changing the benefit from 50% off to 25%.
