Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Amazon tires

With less than 300 Sears automotive centers by November, a low margin Amazon tire installation referral business is not going to help sears survive.

With the SHC debt and the remaining number of SHC auto centers each center would need to do about 400 million in sales a year to pay the debt, plus the expenses just to stay in business. The interest on the debt would be more than any income generated by sale plus pay the back payment to the retirement fund plus the interest payment on the loans and to fund operating cost to keep the auto center alive as well as the sears/kmart stores. How is this going to work?

I just sign the tech off 30 mins after I do the work order and cash it out so it looks like we are doing it fast but I make them wait like everyone else. Oh and add a bs email since they are hounding us for that .

Free tpms kits but PUSH for every extra!!! All techs pulled from paying work to do the tires as fast as possible! 1 hour guarantee!!!

So far profits are not so amazing. It's cheap customers looking for cheap tires and nothing else.

It's going to become print and sign the reservation and when it's halfway done start the actual paperwork. Same old more with less downward trajectory. It'll wear the front line staff wary fast.

However, pricing and amazon placement could be used to reduce inventory very very fast if needed

The amazon sears auto deal is not exclusive. There is already another company stepping to do tire installs and I'm sure many more comming soon. Sears will be one of many options for amazon customers to choose for tire install. I'm a auto center manager and after I pay my tech csa and for the tpms parts I make about 20 bucks for my store on 4 tire install.

it will add nothing to the bottom line or bring traffic into the store.

If you are willing to have your tires installed at Sears, wouldn't it make more sense to see if Sears has the tire in stock and if so, buy them and have them installed all in the same day?
