I’m reading online comments from people who are upset over SF getting naming rights for the Atlanta Hawks’ arena. Can someone explain to me why? Isn't this just good marketing?

I Haven’t read all the replies so someone else probably already said this, but anyway...
I see this as people in marketing wanting to throw SF dollars around on their interests. To a marketing person the answer is always more money and more exposure, versus data analytics and truly understanding what the customer wants. I can’t foresee any customer in ATL or ARI saying “gee State Farm supports my local sports team, I should pay more for their product”. However I can see a marketing exec saying “if we sponsor this I can go there and be treated like the megalomaniac I truly am” plus “these aren’t my dollars and I can probably spin this with some BS assumptions no one who I work for has the knowledge or desire to validate”.
Why?? $18M / year for the privilege for a loc few nationwide really see is too much in light of the expense mgmt, layoffs. Add the $7.7M for the Mesa AZ stadium. Seems ridiculous.
How much did State Farm pay for naming rights on the AZ Cardinals stadium??
My 70 year old policyholder really like that after his rates went up 58%. All I have to say is what the heck
We got another one! :)
Another what? Social disease?
Guess we need a large presence in the HUB locations!
PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) -
The Arizona Cardinals Football Club and State Farm have reached agreement on an 18-year naming rights commitment that results in the team’s home venue becoming State Farm Stadium.
We got another one! :)
Gee, thanks for the Marketing 101. It's like taking a class we never signed up for, didn't want, and didn't need. But thanks.
Seriously? Not sure if you know about those 'new' soft drink brands out there... Coke and Pepsi. They spend millions on advertising. What about the 'new' beer brands out there.... Miller Lite and Bud Light. They spend millions on advertising. What about those 'new' fast food brands out there... McDonald's and Wendy's. They spend millions on advertising. They didn't take the $175M from payroll and looked around to see what they could spend it on. This is part of the overall marketing campaign and budget.
Now, having said that, the timing it TERRIBLE!!
They could have waited until after the 08/31 QTD date and then made the press release.
The fact that is was made this week really shows a disconnect and they wonder why morale of current employees is so bad... go figure.
what's a horseman?
We need the horseman
We want more customers but cant keep the ones we have...we cant even keep up with the claims volume as it is...getting the naming rights to the arena should totally help. totally misdirected even if its not new money spent.
Optics on this aren’t good
This reminds me of when they sponsored the first sub-bar movie in Pixar's history...
Wow they sure have there priorities striaght. I'd rather see more a discount on my insurance and what does this guarantee when the hawks s---. I could see if it was a good team but thats a stretch. Glad i left for a competitor and in the midst of changing my insurance over.
If the entire company was wondering why they have no EIP bonus this year, I have 175 million reasons!!!
Well that explains where our EIP went...
Watch the bouncing ball Goyim. Stay distracted. Grand Dad Rust set it up this way. Tip was groomed to ensure Shabbos was covered. Game over, bouncing ball finished. Now GET TO WORK!
Lunch chits at the stadium. Select a gift sports ball swag. Tipsberg ego boost.
A new phone system would have been phenomenal for customer service
Disgusting timing with all the layoffs still going on. And a bad investment from a marketing perspective. Maybe a promise being kept or some other reason, not sure. Clearly the things that made SF so successful have been abandoned. Downward spiral and no one in leadership showing leadership.
Dividend check...lol....really...ask Tipsy
Unbelievable
Bunch of snowflakes in here, awesome move. I hope they bid on the new ball park in Arlington.
As a policyholder , where is my dividend check?
How about the $192.5 mil for renovations. 2nd largest in NBA history. And how many employees were let go?
It’s the resident troll. If you notice there is never any substance to the posts. Just a rebuttal to the OP or the line used below. They can’t censor the posts like the intranet so trolling is the only option. Just ignore it and keep telling the truth.
The money would have been much better spent improving customer service.
You need to layoff the crack pipe for a while
Also why can't SF offer discounted tickets to these events for their employees?
no one was laid off....everyone had/has choices and opportunities
Next up arenas/ stadiums in Dalllas and Phoenix
I figured it out. The Hawks went 24-58 and finished dead last in the East. Exactly where SF is aiming, dead last. Hawks s--- and so does State Farm.
Because me & 8 of my coworkers were laid off after 20 years plus of dedication to our insureds, countless more laid off to cut back. The ones left are working 50 hours a week, customers are complaining because they need to wait 2 weeks for an inspection.
Their name on an arena will not bring in customers not satisfy our current insureds
Frivolous
Negligent
The board is sleeping
I am upset b/c so many are losing their jobs and we go and do this. We already have name awareness! Do you think to buy SF insurance when you see it promoted at a sporting arena? I think not. $175M would have paid a lot of salaries of good, seasoned employees.
