Shifting payroll to an external company

Cellular has become a commodity product. All telcos are downsizing. Shifting payroll to an external company would make sense for VZ and they need to show something for Hans in his first quarter. I would expect an announcement to come before September 30 (most likely next Thursday). Transition would of course be drawn out to 12 months or longer.

Att has also announced a massive downsizing earlier this week. 15% by Oct and upto 15% more by March in some divisions. Check att thread in the same website.

It's time to update your resumes. Another reduction/ transition is bound to happen before the end of the year. Better to be prepared. Good luck to all. It was fun while it lasted..

@hoc, why do you say “he” when you mean “me”?

Shifting payroll to an external company is managememt lingo for shifting their payroll budget. I doubt we still have a payroll department.

@hoc read again, @vra didn't misunderstand what was stated in the opening statements. And there would be zero saving as explained. We just went through a rif two pay periods ago. And as expected, there will be a 4th quarter reorg. Pay attention as execs at the top have been unusually quiet.

@vra - you misread his message. He doesn’t mean the payroll dept. he means payroll as in employees on the payroll.

While not a bad idea in the past it probably not pertinent now and I doubt you will see it happen. Payroll is currently largely automated. I doubt their are many left in the department as it is. Why go through the trouble for such little savings while exposing yourself to external security risk?
