Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Taking away what made us happier

We have been allowed to work from home 4 days a week and now, for no good reason, they have revoked that priviledge! Why do an employee survey if you dont give a c-ap what the employees said makes them happy? We are being punished for doing a good job! Thanks for nothing!

I was told that someone who was an hourly worker was written up because she signed off of her computer 20 minutes later. The Adjuster was in the Ladies room and came back. The Lync 2010 showed she was away. Because she hadn't actually shut down the computer she was written up. She was working from home. Unbelieveable. They are looking for creative ways to not pay severance.

Everyone is entitled to their say on how they feel. I don't think others should make assumptions and tell people to resign. That's not what this blog is for. The work force is such that most business that can accommodate now, are letting people work from home as there are benefits to both. When you come to work for a company because and stay because that is a perk that works for you and then it's taken away, it can be upsetting. Some people that have worked for AIG for a long time, have some pretty good pensions that were frozen and in the old 401 K match so they may not feel as empathetic as the ones that are feeling more of a loss. Just vent, because this is what the site is for and don't listen to people who have say to resign.

If you are so miserable, resign! No one is making you work for AIG. I've been here many years and yes, stability would be nice but my pay is never late and my PTO and other benefits are excellent. The grass isn't always greener but some employees aren't happy unless they call all the shots. Why are you averse to being in an office? That is how the majority of Americans work. Stop whining and find another job that you still won't be happy with or get to work. You are being paid for the job you were hired to do.

I think they are just trying to make it miserable so you do leave and go to another company and then they don't have to pay severance.

Work from home was the only perk. Makes absolutely no sense to go in and sit in a mostly empty building. They need to get rid of that excess real estate. Nothing through fo make any sense.

they are just looking to push people out in a different way. Most of the midlevel mgt arent strong enough to manage remote resources, so it would do you and the company an injustice anyway.

Ahhh must be one of those useless managers we all know and love, because any hard working employee would never say that. Just the useless ones with high pay who don't do a f---ing thing all day

Here's the scoop, AIG doe not care about you or the customer. They care only about cheap labor. Bills come in, are scanned and sent to 3rd party. If the claim number is not in correct spot, it comes back, sometimes weeks later, when it could have been processed that same day. How, is this taking care of the customer??? It isnt, the customer is as valuable as the employee. Top dogs and their big pay checks is all that matters. They have other strategy to create a better company.

The Company is out of touch with their employees and the rest of the working world. For the past few years, they wanted to be a tech company....anyone remember the wearables? the vest that would measure activity....the flop? They spent so much money on this.....what about all of the analytics? does anyone know the results of all of that waste of money? They made all of the claim people update data and did nothing with it.....

Lots of companies are now offering their employees to work from home. Most companies except AIG give raises. Look when you work in an AIG office, they don't supply kleenex, paper plates utensils. You have to bring in everything. They are really cheap. It's sickening.

That’s awful. I can’t wrap my head around why we come in at all. The office space seems like such a waste of money. What region?

Not the way to support our fellow workers......think about it, no raise in many years...only perk: work from home. We are not talking about 6 figure wages.....working from home is a big perk. We take what we can get...and do the best for ourselves and families. So, next time you want to be snarky....take a moment, consider others and STFU.

Ahhh.. what a terrible thing to do to you. Show em how angry you are! Stomp out of the office tomorrow and quit. Find another job that pays ten times more, fully remote and annual paid vacations in the Hamptons. Cheers!
