I know band 05's who have not broken the 50k barrier yet and have been there 10 yrs!!!

Why they stay at IBM still?

Well, who else would hire someone that dense?

Band 10. Base pay $190K with ability to earn additional 35% in bonuses if certain objectives (including badges, stupid but easy to get) were met. The max base range went up to $230K.

I was a Band 9 for 8 years. I was on leveraged sales plan but my base was only around $90k. Made in total 140K. Later as FLM - no raise - but team of 15 people and quota of 40M - 90K base and 50K variable. Not really a good deal. Happy i am gone

I was a Band 10 before I left and was in the band for about 8 years. I was on leveraged sales plan but my base was only around $150k. I was not provided a band range from my manager in several years. I guess this explains why I would get a raise most years as I must have been very low in the band. Don't really have any complaints would make north of $300 most years with a couple over $450k and a max of just over $800k

Just ask your coworkers what they are making and their bands.

Long gone are the day of not discussing salaries at IBM. As if anyone gives a F anymore.

Here is a little newsflash for you, the young girls promoted to managers make more than you.

It's not who you knew, its who you blue lol

@3jhd: You can have every IBM badge and it will not help you get a raise.

I think you just proved you are an IBMer with that thinking.

Thanks for the laugh

badges are the stupidest thing in a long time. Like stickers you give in nursery school.

I would have to agree with -3siq... the number of badges these days are key. Since salary increases are awarded in September, you really need to work on acquiring badges, Jan 1 through July 30. Then the rest of the year you can rest. This IBM company is so f------ dumb! But if you play the stupid game then you can reap big rewards. I got a 10K raise this year!

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

Don't forget that now one of the criteria is how many "badges" you have. I kid you not. Guess that's why I didn't get anything again this year, for the 6th year in a row.

Not that it makes any difference, as the offer letter that came the same day is a 20% increase.

I was a band 6 and made under the avg salary for my industry (project management). My PORTFOLIO Manager (yes, thats all you were since you had no clue what the FAK I did) realized that i was UNDERPAID and pushed the business unit to get me a raise. It didn't last long (7-8 months)

and then got RA'd the following year. BLOW ME

My manager flatly has refused to give me this information, for 2 years. Recently been moved under a new manager who doesn’t know how to get this info. I’m thinking, what are they hiding? Any advice regarding going to HR directly with my inquiry?

Your FLM is required to provide you with the salary range and where you fit within your band. Not required to provide outside your band though

Band 05 here in Midwest, upper 80's

Pretty certain band 05 starts in 60's and goes to 90's. (rough estimates)

I have heard of band 03's making more than me in other locations however so I would not get too caught up in the band number and just talk to HR or your manager about numbers in your location.

Just ask a FLM there is one that will tell you everything about pay she works

I am a band 9... seems like the ranges fluctuate some between years. This year this is what I got:

minimum = 119,499.96 mid-point = 183,799.98 maximum 248,100.00.

You want to be at the mid-point to be paid correctly. If you are under the mid-point, then you should probably ask for a raise or get the hell out.

And different professions and business units have different ranges too.

I'll assume you are either brand new or you do not work for IBM. Anyhow, the numbers you are after will be hard to list unless you are more specific.

Geographies, bus/operating groups, job role etc. impact it... For example, a Band 8 in Brazil and Band 8 in Kansas City and Band 8 in the Bay Area (all other, except geography being equal) will have fairly different pay ranges. While in SF you may make $150K/yr, the number may be $30K for brazil and $120K for Kansas City...

I hope this makes sense....
