Questions regarding CAPs

Questions I am not comfortable asking in the office.

I have heard that if you are placed on a CAP that there is also an option to leave immediately with some type of payout. Questions:

Is that true?

How much is the payout?

If you are also Rule of 75 eligible, do you get both the payout and retirement benefits?

Thx

Wow-- I have not heard of CAP, since 1995. *If you are on a CAP, it's time to leave. Glad I ERP'ed in 2016 after 28 years--Happy as a clam, 50 and retired!

It wouldn't hurt to ask actually. If you were put on CAP and you told them you planned to retire at the end of the CAP, they might just tell you to put in your retirement papers now and go home for 8 weeks while still an employee.

Even if they didn't just send you home, I wouldn't be working real hard, and I would make sure I maximized all of my benefits (Health, 401(K), etc) while on the CAP.

I ERP'ed in 2016. I'm actually kind of surprised to hear they still have a CAP program. I thought they were automatically dumping anybody who got an IR.

Ex employee here. I serious doubt they'd pay a person to leave when they can get rid of them without paying anything if they fail the CAP. If they want they can make it darn hard to pass the CAP, then you're gone.

As for being Rule of 75 eligible. I feel pretty strongly (unless they changed "the rules") that if eligible to retire under any of their rules, you ARE untitled to the full retirement benefits. I do not think that iis not something they can take away. I know this because a friend of mine was ISPed (perp walked) and she was Rule of 75 eligible and she got the full retirement benefits. Maybe there's a law they can't take that from a person who is eligible? I just doubt they are going to buy you out when they don't have to and can save some $$.

Let us know how it works out so we'll have the answer if this get asked in the future.

Good luck.
