You might get an additional week of vacation (the max is 5 weeks for your career) but that is it. If you are bitter then you should be making as many contacts outside of IBM that you can and looking for another job.

It will be brown and steaming. Put it on your roses and move on.

It’s all about costs. NOT about skills. IBM is in a race to the bottom for costs. Most everyone else is in a race to the top for skills. This is what happens when you let bean counters take over a company and have exec’s who don’t have any idea what the future holds

I completed 20 years and was given my notice the following month. Over 50 and 20+ years service pretty well guarantees you are seen by HR and execs as an undesirable.

If memory serves me you get nothing for 20 but have to wait for 25. So you still have time to get nothing but a pink slip.

Or one of those web pages with "congrats" from people you have worked with. Bag of sh*te. Not too long later, you'll get a phone call from your manager. It won't be a happy call.

Retired from IBM Canada in 2010 at 55yrs with 20 yrs service. Current manager on my last day sent an e-mail asking that I drop off my badge and laptop with a colleague at 3600 Steeles. Not a single thank you or contact from any level of management. Being a FLM myself, this behavior demonstrated poor leadership and some insight to what this company has become. Months later, manager sent an e-mail advising about my retirement lunch was overdue where I get to invite some guests and the manager. I declined solely to deny him the free lunch.

You should be happy if you don't get shown the door...

I was “retired” after 32 years and never got a thank you from my mgmt, Ginni or anyone else. No retirement gift or a letter. Just know you are working for the devil.

20 years ! Surviving IBM for that long is a great achievement - and having a paycheck. Now, stay sane, watch yourself and be careful. Remember you are a CARBON UNIT and thus liable for disposal at any time Queen Ginny so decides,.

Stop guessing, you are getting a video... HR will send you a link and you'll get a generic "happy 20" video... Congrats tho...
