I ran into an ex-Weatherford manager who I know well this week and we were discussing how things are about a year out from being released from the company - note here that I felt he was a good manager and looked out for his team. Anyway, he said things are going well and he actually thanks WFT for releasing him. WTH? He said he likely would not have left on his own even though he had offers but could not express why other than the fear of change.
Anyway, to the point of the post. The only thing he said he regretted was not being prepared. He walked out without his contacts and has had to sped considerable time rebuilding that list. He said LinkedIn has helped a lot but he wished he had backed up his outlook contacts.
Even if you like WFT and plan to stay, you never know what is going to happen. Be prepared and if you backup your contacts make sure you can read them and have the correct file type, outlook has changed over the years and how you did things in the past may not work now
Now go and get prepared
