Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

DF retiring - anyone know the scoop?

DF is “retiring” after 23 years, effective end of this week. Seems like short notice, and he is one of the longest serving MCM members, and pretty straight forward. Anyone know why he is really leaving? Clashes with MR??

SSG gonna get whacked, and DF didn't want that legacy.

The 'Kevin Bacon' of Intel.

It was never exactly clear what his Division did nor how they made any money. He always seemed hung over in his Sales Conf presentations though he gamely worked through the time slot. As observed below, he was never CEO material and probably just left while the gettin' was good.

Writing is on the wall... kinda hard to point to anything he's overseen and say, "That's CEO material"...

As folks are eliminated from short list consideration for CEO job we may see more of this. Did DF feel he was a serious contender?
