@2zbg If you think the corporation has your best interests at heart, without the benefit of union representation, then you probably are a red MAGA hat wearer who doesn't even realize that the label inside the hat probably says "Made in China". By the way, enjoy your pittance Trump tax break (which expires) while the corporations and wealthy enjoy a permanent massive tax cut and slashing of the estate tax too! Hey it adds a trillion and a half bucks to the debt but I'll bet Hannity and Limbaugh didn't feel the need to tell you that. Yep, candidate Trump told you all straight up he "loves the uneducated!"

I will post what I want to post in conjunction with wireline. Short sighted as you may be. The contract can have possible interaction with future employment and layoffs.
@1dqn: I think it just sort of became a board to post thoughts about working at Verizon. I don’t see a problem with it, I just skip over the posts I have no interest in. Let people post their thoughts, the more the merrier if you ask me. Better than having a list of boring stale posts speculating on whether there will be a layoff or not.

Don’t presume to speak me. I see no dynamics at play that indicated that this should not have gone smoothly.
I guess communication between the union and the members is too much to ask.
When it's time to announce things it will be announced. There is over a year to expiration and now we are all in a rush for something that none of us expected to happen at all?
We were all expecting a bloodbath next year anyway so play with the house money till we see what it's all about .
How hard is it for the union to say “no agreement yet”? We don’t know if they are extending the bargaining for a few more days or if they will wait until next spring to resume! It’s not hard to keep your membership informed without breaking the blackout. Right now the membership has no idea what is going on....
So let them cap the pension at 35 years as long as they are willing to give you some kind of enhanced lump sum or higher match of 401k after that point.
Why would the union say anything until both sides agree to go public? It would be asinine as well as bargaining in bad faith for either side to break their silence. Some of you posters are plain fools or just wacko conspiracy theorists. If things where going poorly one or the other side would be banging the war drums by now.
Let them cap them at 35 years. And give the union back something in return.
3 year extension, 2% cola raises, company wants to cap pensions at 35 years of service which is why the blackout (and no agreement) has been mentioned.
Asked my rep...said they “know nothing” . Guess we just wait some more.
Agree, union is corrupted. nothing like back when. Today they are just lining their pockets. Giving the company what they want and taking away from members. The leverage is gone. Nothing left but to cave into demands. Union members at AT&T have the right thought process and that is why their numbers remain strong. No give backs.
The union has been very quiet. We were told that the negotiations were extended for a few days which ended up being this past Wednesday thru Friday. We were expecting SOMETHING from the union on Friday or at least by Saturday but for some reason they like to keep the members in the dark. This isn’t the same union that it was back in the 70’s and 80’s....today they are corrupt and in bed with the company. I’m very disgusted with the union and what they’ve become....a necessary evil.
