Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel decision making for layoffs

The way ACT (and all layoffs at Intel) went (go) down is that managers of the I-race fired non-I managers, Hispanic managers fired non-Hispanics, female managers fired non-females, younger managers fired older employees, incompetent managers that felt threatened fired their competent reports, clueless or naive managers didn't even know what a low SSL would mean so they pretty much fired randomly. All in all it was just a big fcking mess reflecting the state of Intel as a company in complete disarray under the clown. On average the underperformers but politically savvy, crony or otherwise connected to a particular group or manager's little empire got to stay. While those that did not care or were not "in" the politics were fired, no matter how competent they were. But managers got to protect their turf, silos or little empires. Unlike SET, where 1000 useless managers were prioritized, very very few managers got to go this time, pretty much no G10+ and very few G8+. The worker bees, G7 and below got the boot.

"Unlike SET, where 1000 useless managers were prioritized..."

OK, let's break down SET:

-2000-ish; CRB decides there aren't enough managers and way too many ICs running around, so he basically mandates every IC have at least one direct report; IC's everywhere up in arms as the very vast majority do not want to be "managers";

-2006: PSO decides there are way too many managers, so he shiitecaens 1000 "managers", most of whom are the very ICs who didn't want to be manages in teh first place. this is what is apparently known as "SET"...

I know it as b---s---...

ACT was, of course, indefensible in its planning and execution. A perfect encapsulation of Intel culture...

Managers just do what they are told. They do not even fight to keep their employees. They just concede. Extremely weak management that does not do their job to at least try to protect their resources. So sad. Same thing will happen this year where FLMs provide no protection. Layoff people and run with their tails between their legs.

I don't know about others that were laid off. Each have their own circumstances. Speak with an attorney - many offer free consultations and some will fight without fee for a win.

With me, Intel messed with wrong person. Hence, Intel is about to be sued for removing a person from the company in a vindictive and targeted fashion. I have no problems with going public on it. This reminds me, I need to provide my attorney the requested Intel emailz today.

Same layoff pattern of decision making continued in 2018 with Finance and IT layoffs. Even though they renamed it to RESTRUCTURING.
