Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Is it true?

Someone posted earlier that Eddie Lambert is coming to Macy's, is this true? If so, in what capacity?

Interesting reading here. I believe from what I read on Eddie that his term with Sears ends after2018. No skin off his back when they go under. He only receives $1 in pay a year. Who knows, but he is a really sharp business man. Guys like this do not remain idle for long.

I hardly think that anyone posting here means harm, at least I am not reading into that. Maybe speculation, but indeed, someone evidently in a high ranking position with knowledge of talks or a transaction posted on this site, which created the buzz. Post deleted? Very strange.

Sears will be out of business like TRU within 18 months. And I don’t believe for one minute Eddie Lambert is joining Macy’s. Just more BS and people starting trouble on this board.

Eddie is coming, believe this....the original post would not have been deleted if it was not true. Keep your eye on Macy's stock. Probably will not announce until after Q4.

For all of you who think that Eddie isn’t coming... Funny that Warren Buffet just made a lot of 2 Billion go Seritage Properties (Eddies Mall REIT company). This is the company that bought the most profitable stores from Sears and rents them out. Wonder what all that money is for, possibly another acquisition?

The renovations are for growth 50 doors. Not all stores will be spruced up. 52 more to be added next year. These stores will probably be the only ones left open. I believe Macy's has already been sold, deal in the works. Agreed that Eddie probably is the buyer.

we have been told macys is spending millions for renovations in certain stores, they never cared about crappy bathrooms and soiled carpet when business was booming! Why now, sounds like there are plans to sell more stores to Eddie.

I think they sold Eddie some of our property. Probably the Manhattan Macy's. Be interesting to see what else he bought.

I think if we see an "Eddie" balloon in the Thanksgiving Parade it will happen before Christmas.

I viewed the post about Eddie coming to Macy's last Monday at about 7:30 EST, probably the around the same time the original poster of this topic viewed it. It has been deleted by someone. Probably considered illegal trade information. What I would like to know is how long it takes before the buy out is announced? Can someone give a clue? Obviously, the post would not have been deleted if it was not true. I hope they filled Eddie in on "own your role". We run a tight ship, hope he knows that.

Agree with the post below. Backstage is a bandaid. Fits for a year of slight increase then what? So folks maybe Eddie coming is a good thing. New blood might be what Macy's needs. Might feel the pain of selling property, but that approach may be our saving grace.

I wouldn’t say Macys is on the Uptick... they want you to think that. They are not expanding but still shrinking... closing stores, etc. If anyone has followed Sears you would know about Sertiage Property. He owns the property of the most profitable locations. Those Sears locations now pay to lease the land at a discount, while other stores... Primark etc pay high rent. Once those Sears stores close or if they make it past the initial lease they too will pay high rent. Eddie is no fool folks, he bought them for their assets and property. Now Macys is trying to follow the TJ Maxx business model (Back Stage) way late in the game. TJ Maxx already has that market share and it will be tough for Macys to break into it meaningfully. To me Macys is a little lost, do you want to be an online business (they push online sales), your traditional brick and mortar, or a discount retailer to the likes of TJ Maxx... seems like they have their hand in all these cookie jars and right now they are showing better profitability but that won’t last without a clear direction. Sorry if this sounds like a downer post but you have to look at both ends of the stick. Macys will still close stores and they will keep down sizing, which will also show an increase in profitability... they just laid off a ton of people in the new year and will lay off more. I call a spade a spade, and downsizing will help the company survive longer but not forever if they don’t get a clear direction.

Purely speculation. Eddie remains with Sears until the end of 2018. He does own ELS investments and has loaned Sears millions of dollars....they are currently making payments on the debt now. Eddie is only collecting a salary of $1, however , the interest he is making from the loans are nothing to sneeze at. When Sears goes into bankruptcy, he has positioned himself at the top of the list for payment. So, you see Eddie is kind of up to his neck right now. I really doubt he would stick his neck out and go after Macy's. Besides that, Macy's is on the uptick and I doubt that Eddie would be willing to pay the asking price..... Macy's folks are smart. Wishful thinking for Eddie and his gang. Maybe try JC penny for your next venture.

This guy "Eddie" is trouble. If indeed he did buy Macy's our days are numbered. You think you've seen bad, nothing close to it until he steps in and sells everything out from underneath us. Eddie stay at Sears. The great department store that you destroyed.

Regarding the post of the great business ethics Eddie has....if he is so smart why did he in Sears in the ground? Poor business decisions that is why. He will do the same with Macy's. Probably

Fast Eddie himself writing the post.

Perfect! Just great, the magic of Sears and the softer side of Macy's. It will not work. It will be our downfall. But Jeff and Half have their golden parachute to float off on.

What I would like to know, are they going to announce the sale before or after we put the washers and dryers in Backstage?

OMG! My register had the Sears logo on it last week! I turned it off and back on and the Macy's screen was back.

Did he buy Macy's? He would need to bail the debt from Sears first, and then there is Macy's debt., although Macy's has value in property. That's why I agree with the previous post of merger. No wonder Jeff Has been out of sight.

He is not taking down Sears but picking the assets apart with precision accuracy. Eddie doesn’t “come” to Macys... Eddie buys Macys... Big difference

My guess is we are merging with Sears in some format. Possibly shop inside of stores. We shall see what transpires.
