Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

This is getting rediculous

How many people can be laid off in certain locations and still have them function? How many full-time jobs can a single employee do in eight hours of one day?

With the latest layoffs and no filling of the positions, it certainly looks like GE is trying to find out lately.

The white collars got us into this mess with their attitudes and arrogance. Bye Bye while you're handy!

Maybe a purge of the the middle and upper management is in order.

John's goal is to reduce $500MM in "extra" people from the elimination of work in shared services and other jobs. The pain for the average worker in white collar jobs is just getting started.

Yes, so many layoffs and yet management is expecting to complete the job on time without realizing that employees are working more than 12 hours. This is what she called work life balance. Manager is trying to treaten employees that if job is not completed ,you will a be candidate to be laid off. Very frustrating . The manager from Canada Global Ops should realize that her people have also life aside from work. And working more than 12 hours will eventually make her people sick. I love working in GE but not with this kind of leadership. You have to work and complete the job but you are not allowed to seek overtime.

Like Jack used to say there is infinite juice in the lemon. You’re going to get squeezed more is all.

Maybe now someone is realizing why there are some of us who have not had a vacation in years despite working 12 hour days.

"this is a take down from the inside"

No truer words have been uttered here. I don't know who is out to take down GE, plenty of competition out there that wants a piece of the action, but this company has been used up and now we're experiencing the whiplash.
