Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Team Leads

Anyone know anything dealing with team leads... I have an opportunity for a new job with the same pay but am deciding on if it’s worth it to leave. I’m stuck in the middle.

Whoever posted this You do you. But for me, if the new job is just another retail place, why not stay with Sam's? Decent pay with room for growth. People terrified of layoffs for the most part aren't doing their job to begin with.

What an id--t They elimanate positions not certain people. Alot of times longterm people. Its dumbaases like you how the company survives One day it will be your turn and no matter how mighty of a worker youbthink you are you will be told the news. The workres today do not have anywhere close to the work ethic of the longterm associates .

Good luck to you too with your new job. I left 4 months ago and have absolutely no regrets!

I’m with the majority. I say leave. As a current night lead with 9.5 years with the company I have turned down 2 job offers that were ridiculously awesome so I can stay and suffer here at Sam’s. The third one came last week and I accepted it. Put my 2 weeks in last week and am not looking back. Good luck to you.

If you have not been with SAM’S

for a long time, take the new position. You are not losing any pay

and most likely a better work environment. There is no job

security at Sam’s. I have seen many

job reductions ( eliminations) in management, team lead positions

( remember when we had a hardlines team lead), etc. it seems to occur approx every 4 years.

Go with your opportunity and be less stressed. Good luck to you.

Correction: I just happened to fit into the first 2 categories.

I worked at the HO in ISD (IT Division). With the acquisition of Jet.com, the CEO put them in charge of all decisions. They went through ISD with a flame thrower targeting anyone with 10 years of service, 50 years of age or older and/or those with health issues that cost the company money or a combination of any of the three. I saw the writing on the wall. I just happened to fit into the first 3 categories.

3 opportunities came up. I turned down the first 2. The 3rd one gave me more money and a less stressful environment. I gave my 2-week notice. My last day was a Friday. I started my new job on Monday, still in IT. No regrets.

It was scary as heck going from a job I was comfortable in but with the stress of possibly losing my job. I made the right decision. No stress. No fear of getting that meeting notice saying be at 'this' room at 'this day and time. Sometimes you need to take that leap of faith.

Yep. I have to agree with previous poster. Sam's has got to be one of the worst companies to work for now. No one knows if their job is safe and the h/o sure isn't telling. NO JOB SECURITY! The way it's running now is like the blind leading the blind and it's getting worse.

"PEOPLE AREN'T DOING THEIR JOBS TO BEGIN WITH"? Really? You are a Frickin id--t... there are so many directions everyone gets from home office, regional and then let's not for get club management. All this is what is going to cause this company to fail, I am in North central division and told to ignore company direction (per amp pages) pod's, out of area features and so on. Who do we listen to the gods of regional management? We can't even get the stuff we need or ordered from the DC. You my dear are living in sam's club lala land . Stay there because I don't want you anywhere near the next employer I have ...drowned with the sinking ship MF.

I know it’s cliche but you have to do what you feel is right for you. Being a team leader has lots of pros and cons. It can be rewarding to lead a team to success; however, it can also present a major challenge with the numerous audits, resets and other administrative tasks that are added regularly and more rumored to be coming. It’s definitely worth the experience and could help you on a resume if you decide to move on at some point. If you are motivated by the right reasons, show empathy and listen to your associates, I see little reason why you could not succeed.
