Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What happens to printers, batteries and sncs when a store closes?

It’s getting pretty rediculous when there are no functioning batteries to print a scalable label for inventory

Printer Batteries have been an issue for at least 5 years, but it has gotten so bad you can’t even do tasks that require a printer.. and store manager knows the issue and does nothing as usual

Is it possible to take say 4 batteries from nearby store in liquidation and exchange for ones that work? Shouldn’t the store manager have some clout to do this or at least order a couple more ?

Regis is NOT going to like manually putting in div and item numbers

Zebra technologies still sell the batteries for about $42.00... wouldn’t this be a justifiable business expense? More so than than the case monster drinks that was ordered for last years inventory!

Printer batteries are orderable. They are expensive, and some SGMs might be scared to order them. I got my ASM to order 8 of them at once. They showed up, and they were the wrong ones. SGM was p-ss-d. Now the right ones can be ordered and we’ve ordered. If someone asks in DJ pebble group, someone will get you the part number.

Regis won’t be happy that we don’t have scannable bar codes on stuff for inventory! Regis entering item number manually will not set well with their management

And the regular worker will be blamed because the dam store managers are too chicken to order a $42.00 item to get sh-- fine before inventory

When a nearby Sears closed the store manager, who knew our store manager, brought over a few SNCs, printers, batteries, and a charger. None of the items were in tip top shape, but they were the best of the lot. These additions helped us out a great deal. The closing store manager brought us bags, office supplies and cleaning/maintenance supplies as well.

@UdnxviM-xtc I agree in my store I overheard that one of the ASM's the DM wasnt letting them order pink ticket (by the love of god pink tickets!) how much can that be like $10 bucks or something for a box. Every time you ask for items the same annoying excuse comes no money in the budget I have been hearing that ever since I started.

@UdnxviM-hya I don't know what SGM you have, but ours wont order those things he says no money in the budget every damn time lots of our ihelds are broken. We are left with 2 printers (out of the 5 we got with 3 broken).

@hya - It's not 1996 anymore where you can ask your store manager to order much-needed supplies and receive them with no objections. I don't know about your store but it is my understanding that all stores are under a very strict budget. If your store manager is ordering batteries at this point in time, even if you have a legitimate need for them, he or she may not have a job for much longer.

@ddq If Pebble is so great and Pebble can get all of your questions answered, go ask a few random work-related questions on there and report back to us how many of those questions were answered clearly and concisely, let alone answered at all. Because in my experience, Pebble seems to be a venue for store employees shoot the breeze while they are on company time (go look at all the Pebble groups that have NOTHING to do with work; I bet the media would love to hear about that) and a platform for brown-nosers to grovel at each other's feet. There's so much of that going on that anyone using Pebble legitimately falls to the wayside.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've asked a question on Pebble only for it to go unanswered or for me to receive a vague or belated response and I'm not the only one. Posting in the right groups, the use of hashtags -- none of it matters. If corporate shut down Pebble today, I wouldn't notice it and I wouldn't miss it because as it stands now, it's useless and a waste of money.

They built pebble for asking question like this and yet you posted on internet so the whole world know? Great. Remember you guys signed code of conduct when you were onboarded.

Why would you think a closing store's equipment is in any better shape than yours? At one point as a receiving lead I ordered replacement printer batteries every year. Never a problem. What's happened to change that?

Your SGM can order new ones, I don’t know why you all cry about this. All ours are brand new just tell your SGM to put the order in for chris sake

Your store manager can ask to get some items from a closing store. We got printers that worked, ink, bags, cleaning supplies, signs from a closing store. Even got some furniture. All he has to do is ask and then rent a truck to go pick it up.

If they don't work at your store, why would another's work? You think they got new ones?

@fob were your batteries good?

Do could our store manager put in a request to get batteries? How does that work I wonder?

They are sent back to corporate. Boxed up all of our broken equipment yesterday to be sent to the next sorry store.
