Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Supplier shift from China to U.S.?

China is the real competitor and we know they steal our IP and take advantage of the U.S. in other ways, so here is a thought.

How about building up and using U.S. suppliers and bring mfg back here in the U.S.?

Honeywell "said on Friday it had started sourcing some of its components from countries other than China to counter growing costs related to a tariff war between the world's two largest economies."

Manufacturing is not coming back to the U.S., under Trump or any future President. Even with the proposed tariffs, there are still many other countries to outsource to with cheaper labor, stronger work ethic, lower overall costs, etc. No one is going to take U.S. manufacturing/producing seriously again until we step up as a nation and start GIVING A S**T about what we do and produce! Hence, never again will jobs be prioritized to the elitist Americans. Every industry has suffered under the lazy American attitude. I offer one small example; Media. How many typos do you see in any one article, how many mispronounced words do you hear on any news station, how many retractions and corrections do you view a day? We have become elitist, complacent, and downright lazy. I'm not speaking for all Americans, but most.

China didn't have to steal our technology. Honeywell gave it to them as part of the contract terms to get APU's on Chinese airframes. Nothing like giving away the farm to book some business.

You are fooling yourself if you think manufacturing is coming back.

"...We're also tracking well against the cash repatriation plan we reviewed at our Investor Day in February, which contemplated more than $4 billion of cash being repatriated in 2018. We brought back nearly $2.2 billion into the U.S. through the second quarter...".

Anybody who thinks that work will be repatriated from China is only fooling themselves. It will be transitioned to another low cost region that's not impacted by tariffs. If anything, the tarrifs will result in added outsourcing.

They can’t source from inside the US without repatriating money and paying income tax on those profits. Blame the US corporate tax for lost jobs.
