If you’re asking that question the. You don’t understand what data cloud IS.
The ODC Sells 3rd party data. The same kind of data that cambridge analytics was collecting & selling.
The ODC business model is BASICALLY illegal in the EU now with GDPR. And big US companies and small ones with brains are avoiding ODC And it’s kind like the plague.
These layoffs were bc of a dying business . It’s like selling Flash based solutions today ...no one uses Flash anymore. It doesn’t even work on iPhones as apple blocked it. Flash is a dead product.
Oracle Dara Cloud is a dying (terminal) product.
Get it?
Were these layoffs an attempt to trim under performers or reduced investment in ODC?
Oracle Marketing Cloud is s---ing wind and losing three clients to every two won due to subpar product innovations (read: product stagnation due to shoddy product development or lack of investment for innovation). Marketing products HAVE TO be CONSTANTLY modernized to keep pace with current user trends. None of the old Oracle buy it and just keep it alive mantra will suffice in Ad Tech or Mar Tech. Its CLEAR that Oracle is out of their water in these offerings. TRAIN WRECK in slow motion despite the hype by the GM's and upper execs for these groups. Those guys were sold a bill of goods (no women in this mix) and they are stuck holding the stinking sh-- bag.
Broomfield office is a ghost town.
I feel sorry for the folks at ODC in Broomfield, CO.
Oracle spent a lot in this area (ODC) along with the Oracle Marketing Cloud. OMC is treading water (but, not so well), and ODC has had no focus for the last couple of years now. Sinking ship with no vision.
