Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

AS will be restructured significantly next month

Due to the merger in TS & AS many redundant AS positions will be chopped. AS is bloated & highly overrated. If you are a grade 11 or 12 in AS then you are a target this time as your work can easily be done by grade 6 or 8. Due to the flat revenue with no growth, many positions are no longer required. Massive automation will also aggravate the layoffs in AS to keep the opex as low as possible. AS will be transformed significantly this time as they never had too many layoffs in the past.

Cisco will transition the four largest CMS customers to TAC operations in Krakow & Bangalore beginning 2nd quarter FY20. All other CMS customers will be sold off to other managed service providers.

AS business development manager is a joke. They just sit in a office & manipulate the numbers in the excel sheet. Never tried to retain the accounts, never engaged themselves with the new customers or subscriptions. They are just good for nothing but drawing really fat salary. No wonder AS revenue was flat or declining. Many big AS subscriptions accounts were already discontinued as customers saw no value in the AS services. AS project managers are struggling to get an adequate projects. Many teams have no work or active accounts. It is not good picture particularly at the end of 4th quarter.

AS margins were not high compared to TS and a lot of their ‘profitability’ or perceived lack of, were due to all the investments they had to make on behalf of the BUs. That said, this merger should have happened years ago - too many fiefdoms, complete power play

What stone have you been living under?

AS/TS/CMS is now CX.

Big change and restructuring is already happening.

A number of senior people either demoted or had their roles downgraded (ie global to regional).

Senior new hires told they are no longer required.

There will be a significant LR programme come

September.

No disrespect to AS folks, but they were never top tier. Top price, but high margins, so they only hire bottom of the barrel and pay accordingly.

If advanced services overlaps with Tac Support then something is seriously wrong, Advanced services used to be the cream of the crop, comparing it with tac which is tyre 2 support as best is just sad, means that AS is FUBAR and as of TAC the best they can do now is to provide workarounds for issues or scale to the BU in which in most cases they just close the tickets saying no further development effort will be done to fix the issues, well done Cisco you wanted to be the same as Microsoft well you are almost there.
