Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

I Didn’t Get Laid Off

I didn’t get laid off. I left before the announcement. I worked with some truly great people. I love my new job but I would go back to SWN in a heart beat if I knew it was a stable company. There are so many people still there now and gone that I miss so much. The one thing that sticks out in my mind I don’t miss was the leaderships double standard. People at the lower levels were always held to a higher standard that the top. I witnessed people at the top or who reported to the top use their AMX to purchase wine, beer, whisky, bottle openers and all sorts of other stuff for personal use and it got approved without question. Members of the ELT and upper management would get drunk and drive, text and drive and speed in SWN vehicles and nothing happened. Yet a field person would be scared to death to get a speeding violation on the TIWI and be scared they would lose their job. Booze and high quality food flowed freely at the top level with field offices struggled to get decent internet and basic supplies. The quarterly calls were a joke... do as I say and not as I do. I took lesson from them and lead by example at my job. The fish rots from the head and that is what happened to SWN. SWN does not have leadership. There are people in those positions but that doesn’t qualify them to be leaders. I wish everyone the best! Do better than they did, work harder than they did and be more honest than they ever were. Put your employees first and never talk out of both sides of your mouth.

Here's a quote from the entire leadership team and the consultants - "Geoscience? F that!"

I think the stated number is 200 .. from some discussion about 100 are in Houston .... Not sure about Engineering ... Geoscience, was hit very hard -- i think over ( or close ) to 50% of the Geoscience staff that was left, was let go and I know 2 have left since something like 45 Geo before layoffs / 22 or so after with 2 having left .. so 20 left. ..

How many people were let go in the recent layoffs? I haven't seen any numbers or percentages. I'm especially interested in how hard the geoscience and engineering staff in HQ got hit.

I was at a recent technical conference in Houston many swn alumni — many left by choice for other options and most who were laid off had prospects ..

No one I talked to from swn was happy with the company

Major turnover in the corporate office. I heard some people put in their notice the week of the most recent layoffs. For a company that alleges their core strength is their people, they sure don't seem to care about keeping those people.

Has there been any additional turnover since the layoffs in your area? I know our field office is seeing it, people moving on every week.
