Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Good news for us

Anybody else relieved that Qualcomm/NXP deal failed to go through?

The stronger Qualcomm gets, it becomes greater competition to us. And we are in no position right now to handle something like that. Maybe once we were but now we are not.

So for once, thank you China.

@UljgZVN-lgq: agree. QC NXP jinking just means the Chinese govt trying to put a spoke in the wheels of US tech sector for politico-economic reasons. They would screw Intel too. Glee over this is not good in terms od US interests at large. Ideal case being: Apple taking over Infineon Wireless guys for its in-house modem development. Intel Apple agreeing to use more Intel CPUs for the next 5-7 years, this would give Intel time to gain a solid footing in new avenues like AI, AD etc and give Apple the building blocks in needs for a complete vertical scaling.

Intel has already effectively lost it process technology leadership. TSMC 7nm is actively sampling and is widely considered to be equal to Intel 10nm, which is NOT actively sampling.

Intel doesn't make any money on modems - they gave that away just to land the big Apple. QCOM will win in the long run because Intel can't really design modems - they are all at least a full generation behind the comp.

I'd worrry more about AMD if I were you - they are locked, loaded and aiming straight for the heart of Intel's business.
