Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any way to volunteer for layoff?

Been thinking of leaving more and more, but I'm in rush. I wonder if there is a way to indicate I would be okay with being put on the list for the next round of layoffs?

@lstx You can give a resignation 6-8 months in advance, to collect a pay check doing little. When it's time to leave - Intel will still give you a package, or better a retirement (ERP) even when you don't qualify for it.

Guess which 55 year old female (only 15 years at Intel) in Intel IT did that ?

I actually have had the same thoughts and am keeping my mouth shut. Not because I even care about a poor review, but because I would like to stay until mid next year. I would consider leaving g if they were to offer it to me. But am not looking for another job at Intel or frankly anywhere else as I can afford to leave w/o it (I am a saver and have stockpiled away funds) Because I won’t be lucky enough to get a package or not even likely booted I will just wait for my magic day and give a bit of notice and say adios.....

There are too many people at Intel with these mindsets:

1) I will only leave unless i get a package.

2) I cant retire unless i get Health Care package.

This is why its a sad place to work.

Just leave now, every day in this joke company is wasted time.

@mbo is correct. Do NOT discuss this with anyone until there is a real layoff announced. Even then, approach it carefully if you would be stuck there through a focal cycle if it doesn’t work out

Be careful on that. Pas is right, there is no more parachute packages. That was clearly called out in 2016. Be glad you have your job was the line. So if you have another offer and are not happy in Intel then it’s an easy answer. Best of luck.

Wait till rumors or real layoff. Otherwise you could get targeted for development plan or below expection at end year. Mean no salary increase for you.

Hard to believe you had to ask the question when the answer is staring you right in the face. Simply tell your manager what you said here. "I would be okay with being put on the list for the next round of layoffs"

There will be no more packages handed out, should have taken it back in 2016.

Just quit when you are ready, bro.
