Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Mindful of red flags for layoffs

I have put together a list of red flags to Be on the look out for potential layoffs to come. Please add any additional items not listed.

Mandatory trainings that require you to enter your name first and last and even home address in the end. This is usually completely discrete to send you severance agreement prior to telling you they are going to lay you off. Packets come after your notified. It makes it easier on their bookkeepers. You take a training that you think matters, but it’s just to get your info for severance all in order.

Meetings with other leaders and or subject matter experts to get more insight from you. This sometimes has been used as a discrete way to evaluate you individually or with a group to see who they keep and who they execute.

The workload pulling up to beyond impossible. Overworked and burned out completely to the point of quitting. That’s how it is now. That saves Humana on severance and unemployment costs and as illegal as it maybe they will do it. I feel it now. If you leave you will not get unemployment and severance.

Pressure from your leader about performance and stats, etc. They will show you how bad you are whether your bad or not prior to layoff.

Speaking with members that just don’t sound like members. You ever talk to someone with a voice changer via the phone. Listen on you tube and listen to your members.

Be prepared and be ready. This is a cut throat business that cares about return on investment and satisfying stock holders. They don’t care about employees. New management speaks about poor execution of old management. All the costs they have created from what has been provided in the past to employees . That’s changing. Look at raises at start of the year. Look at benefits to employees. They are cutting us out. Protect yourself in these ways. Make sure your getting your money in retirement, overtime, and all your Time calculates to the second. Don’t trust their systems because that’s for the bottom line not for employees protection.

Protect yourself throughout this process. When management shifts again in the future you know more big changes will come. Eventually William Fleming and others, will be like the other leaders gone. He’s just a man for this phase. He will remove and eliminate without heart and his team will follow in his foot steps. He fits the soul for the task.l at hand. Maybe they will offer him Early retirement soon. Protect yourself. They won’t protect you. You are a data collector. More data equals more understanding of bottom line now and future.

What a great story this will all eventually make for the center of Medicare services. Protect yourself.

Glad to see some genuine wisdom posted here. The poster is spot-on. This is real; prepare, get out..... 'surviving' is NOT living....... and no matter what kool-aid was spewed at what time, they DO NOT care, they just want the bottom line, MONEY.... and those with it will leave first.

I worked with HCMs who came from Anthem and did not have anything positive to say. It is the same for BCBS. I have always heard good things about Cigna, but it seems like a very hard company to get in with. It doesn't look like the grass is greener on the other side, but job stability may be worth it.

FFS. If you believe this to be true leave... Seriously, why would you work for anyone where you believe this is happening?

Do any of you know what it is like to work for some of the other insurance companies? BCBC? Anthem? United Health? Liberty Mutual? or Aetna? Others? What have you heard about working for them?

One thing from a person who was hit in RIF they did not send a severance agreement BEFORE being told laid off, severance package came several weeks after being told in meeting.

Ridiculous to think wanted us to act normal with coworkers and members for the next 60 days. Talk about hard, I was relieved when let us go after 30 long days

They are not even giving raises that equal cost of living increases. Not even equal to how much the cost of our benefits were going up. Ever have check go down when benefits signed up for again??

Don’t let your coach tell you that they had nothing to do with it. They each did an assessment on everyone on their teams. Not to mention that the assessment questions were mostly their opinions.

“Team member is always showing positivity?”

“team member participates in team meeting with positive Humana supporting comments”

“Team member creates Team building in chat “

“Team member never complains about productivity “

All very damning

So much for open communication and no retaliation! So much for transparency!!!!

I am so glad I am gone

That's spot on; we may be nurses and social workers by trade but with Humana we are purely data collectors who appear to be helpful. We have to play their game in order to survive.
