Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Amazon stock soars

Amazon reported earnings a few days ago and killed it....Amazon has never shown great profits in the past despite enormous top line because it kept putting profits back into the business to increase scale

But now they have increased prime membership fees and is charging advertisers more...and the are showing profits now and will beat Apple to be the first trillion dollar company

Amazon has pricing power now and will lower prices at wfm which is what the customers have always wanted

Wfm is going to benefit just sit tight😛

I agree mostly with ALF. I don’t think they’re spouting “kool-aid” rhetoric either. Sure, it sounds very pro-wfm but at the heart of the statements it’s true. I think WFM’s goal did come to fruition as well. What lead to the decline is that other grocery stores caught notice of how much impact it had and started copying the formula and charging a much lower price to do so. You can’t really compete when Walmart and every other grocer starts selling the exact same products without the premium $ that WFM did. You can go to WFM for the customer service experience and have your hand held while you walk down the aisles and your a$$hole tongued whenever you have any problem with it, but you’re paying for that luxury. Me personally, I don’t want every employee coming up and asking me if I need help. I realize they have higher quality standards as well and I also appreciate that but mostly I’m not that picky. Im looking to save money like most people and I don’t need to spend twice as much on a steak because the cow had regular hand-obs throughout its life before a rod was quickly inserted into its brain in the exact same fashion as every other cow. I do still enjoy the premise there because I know the products don’t contain any artificial ingredients and it saves me time having to look at every label at a regular store. Time definitely is money. But after working there for 10 years and what happened with all the OTS BS, decline in work environment and layoffs I make it a point not to contribute to their bottom line. There’s a Kroger a few blocks from my house and the food tastes just as good at half the price. WFM changed the grocery game to a certain extent but everybody caught up. That’s basically it. They fell behind and needed to be saved. It’s Amazon now with a WFM facade.

Dude you can still be healthy. F--- everyone else. They only person that will make you healthy is you. Whole Foods never did anything for anyone accept offer the opportunity to be healthy which is STILL f---ing does. I don’t work at WFM anymore but I’m still healthy and strong because I choose to be. I get my veggies at WFM but not everything.. the core values were just a smoke screen and filler for new hire orientation. Put the WFM cool aid down, drink some kale powder and go kill it at the gym or walk your dog. WFM isn’t the answer you’re the answer. Biggest WFM value is the whole lie that they can make you healthy. b---s---.

Cracks me up to see people excited about soaring stock prices for Amazon- what an empty measure of success it is- charging customers more for prime- charging vendors more for trading- paying less in wages for middle class workers- paying less taxes- destroying local businesses and creating mini monopolies as it grows- contributing nothing back to the communities that support it-bullying Seattle out of progressive legislation-the company is a bell weather for humanity's decline of empathy and integrity- it's all about growth and more growth and profit- cold- no standards- no integrity-short sighted- heartless. Similar to what we are seeing on a larger scale in government- Corporate greed and power is taking over- without controls or balance or oversight-WFM had integrity at one point, and had a mission and purpose to improve the American diet- to make positive change in the way our families eat., and the way our food was produced-WFM was anti establishment in that mission, and made change happen. Now WFM is dead- the mission is over-aborted before it could fully come to fruition- it started 4 years ago when the disconnected ones started plotting on selling out- eroded the standards and trust from the inside out- chased away the dedicated people and then sold out its own core values and quality standards in pursuit of the almighty dollar-what a waste.

@UoHNpA1-tnw As a young amazon exec you surely have a college degree - how come that you incorrectly use punctuation and are unaware of space/period rules?

And another thing ...I’m a young mid level amazon exec...

Here’s the deal..if you’re really good you’re going to get paid really well if you’re ok you are going to do okay...maybe a little less then market....and if u s--- u r screwed

What’s wrong with that?...explain to me how Union will improve?...with union...u r all screwed....in other words 50 cent raises a year ..guaranteed!!! ...and u can’t be fired!...are u guys ok with that?

And that’s Amazons game...they are a “disruption machine” but the goal is to annihilate and if you are working for them and worried about the “SS” flash on your shoulder....please...lol...bow out son

I totally understand that tm’s will never be treated as well as in the past...but you saw that coming when jmac said “perhaps we have worried about how well we treat our team members before how we have treated our customers “....he told his company right there that you have been over privileged

As workers ...whether u agree or not is another story...yes ...wfm employees are not going to be paid as well as in the past...but the company now as it stands is going to put heavy heavy pressure on competitors this fall/holiday...amazon wfm can potentially shutter competitors...and that strengthens wfm period

I have a feeling wfm will be just fine as well. Maybe not the tm’s as the fat gets trimmed away. Once amazon finds the right balance it’ll be fine.
