If you look at indeed, they are still hiring for the Tempe site.

Not that it matters really

Haven't heard a peep, not even any rumors. Nothing like making us wait in limbo wondering if we are in for much longer commutes to Deer Valley. You know they probably don't want us knowing that type of thing months in advance, greater the chance we take that time to look for other jobs.

Any updates? During the call they said we would receive a communication in Sept providing more info.

as far as parking goes, Sky Harbor has significant empty parking spaces on any given day - approx. 100 or so. Whoever said it's full, has never actually walked the entire property.

Everything to the east, west, and south of the 1207 goes to the new owner, including the parking lots. The land has already been divided up into 2 parcels. All that will be left for employee parking in Tempe is the lot west of the 1201. Perhaps they will open up the dirt lot further west for additional space?

No one is going to die walking to the parking lot even when it's 120 degree.....the only people that die are hikers that get lost going out during the middle of the summer.

I am curious how the parking lot is going to be split between new owner and Honeywell. I suspect the Honeywell badge in areas are going to be away from the 1207 building.

@uyyb Yes, many more people could be squeezed in but the problem is parking. Tempe will have limited parking when it signs its deal, and SH and PHX engines are out of parking spots. Some old engineer will have a heart attack or collapse walking from the Airline parking lot next summer in 115 degree heat, and Honeywell will get sued. Don't expect anything to happen before then.

There are buildings on the Tempe sites that are pretty empty. Imagine call center type cube farms in those area......

The truth is many sites could squeeze more people in them by shrinking cubes.

Is it too soon to revive work from home as a cost saving device and morale booster with a new name? Let's see, also lowers carbon footprint and air pollution in the Valley of the Sun. Five mile commute to Tempe versus 40 mile commute to Deer Valley? It's all in how you spin it.

@syjj No updates. Leadership is saying nothing although the plans on deciding where people will go began last year with that failed sale. PHX engines is having 5S events to clean out space and we're hearing almost 500 people will be crammed in there. The second floor of SH 2102 is being cleaned out for ISC Project 248 so it will be hard to put Tempe people over there. Not hearing much about Deer Valley but if 900 people have to move, people will relocate there. Not going to be pretty unless a lot of Tempe engineers quit and don't need cubes.

Any updates from 1207 regarding where groups are moving to? In AZ I mean (not HGRs)

Just go to the 6th floor, so it will all flow downhill

Got to leave the 1207. Men's bathroom on 1st floor doesn't work and they won't fix it. Cheap bastards.

I work at the Sky Harbor facility. Management has been squeezing All of the floor space together to make room for years now. To make room for other Aero facilities IMHO. By putting all of the Aerospace Under One Roof it would be much easier to squeeze the employees. A much easier sell if they could find a buyer. I believe they tried to spin off Aerospace but could not do it.

And don't forget about Bangladesh and Laos.

Way back in the late '80s, I was a summer hire for GED, assigned to 'Property Control'. One of my jobs was to locate all new capital assets and slap metal tags on them. GED/GAPD were humming at that time, so I kept pretty busy. I remember going over to Tempe a few times that summer (not sure what building), as they were setting up a new cell with several new machines, there was a real excitement in the air. I was pulling about $7/hr then and thought I was rich ha ha. Simpler times.

For the one that asked about Celestica...contract is already signed, it was to be in effect already but they were not hitting key metrics in Tucson yet so Leadership said to hold on the Tempe conversion until Celestica would improve...just a matter of time.

6khe- you kidding right? IT leadership will now be able to declare Tempe is no longer a hub and RIF people at will

You will be moving out of 1207 to Bangalore, Bruno, and SLP Mexico by June 2019

India does a lot of the Commercial Aerospace work. More and more as time goes by. For those that don’t know. Aerospace is not just D&S.

And what happens to the people on the second floor of the 1230 building?

Most will find a home somewhere that is somewhat close.

Question out there is, since Tempe is becoming a maufacturing site, when does it become Celestica?

Would the folks that find seats in Tempe then have to move?

Sorry about the previous comment concerning 2020 this was in reference to other areas of Honeywell and not restricted to US only work. I was only aware of this program (goal) within UOP and not Aero. I really sympathize with people in the Aero companies of Honeywell you have to be the worst treated in Honeywell.

qdh, don't forget D&S work can be done by Puerto Rico site, they are cheaper than US and Can, so don't put it past the rascals at the top to push work there. My previous job got eliminated and sent to India

-1jkm: Yes, relocating folks to the Sky Harbor and Deer Valley sites is what I also heard. I know three Defense and Space engineers living in Glendale that currently commute 30+ miles to Tempe that are hoping they move to Deer Valley for a much shorter drive. Also, I don't understand the previous comments about India; At least for the D&S engineers, the majority of their work is export restricted and cannot be moved out of the USA to India if that's what they're getting at.

They reviewed this over a year ago. I recall Deer Valley was to pick up majority of sensus but some was going to I thought Sky Harbor?

The news media talks about China all the time, but never about India. Wake up America!!! I remember in the Delhi office a program called 2020. Did other India locations also have this program? The idea behind this was to be 100 percent on their own by the year 2020. Looks more and more like that is what Honeywell is striving to make happen.

This should be a warning to all other sites in Aero and other SBGs. Sites will be closed. Work from home will not be allowed. This is a ploy to RIF workers (without paying them severance) and especially older ones that won't make a long commute.

At least you know now there will be about 900 layoffs by June 30, 2019

With some before December 15, 2018 so no 401k match for you!

Nice to see Greg Lewis CFO pay package posted on the 8-k filing on Honeywell.com under Investors page. Good to see he will get $700k plus 100% bonus and special 200% bonus. Poor guy we should help pay his moving expenses to a Hub location. No don't bother that's in the package too
