Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

All that glitters is not goal

Get ready Sam’s employees under John Furner leadership you will all have to make Advil or Tylenol your VIP item , I worked under him when he was a regional, he would do some sneaky things like show up 8:30 pm when the store is in a mess and send pictures just to make the GM lilook bad. He gave my general manager a really hard time for stupid stuff. 10 years later he became the CEO and visited my store again unannounced on a busy Sunday in short pants with a couple of his minions, he didn’t say hi to one associate or manager. Took pictures of everything that was wrong and emailed it to the whole company . To all the associates I know who worked really hard in that store he threw dirt on their face. I guess he got the last laff because the store was one of the store that they closed.

Linden NJ is the store store. John did not like the African American and Latin community who shopped and worked at the store . He treated the employees and managers like C-ap. 10 years later I taught he changed but the Furner Inferno got worst . Same nasty guy doing nasty things. They should have kept him pushing carts .

He should visit Market 15 unannounced for real Tours he will see what opportunities really exist. Weekends , nights just come unannounced without a week of prep. NY Metro , NJ Pa does not matter.but esp NY Metro. He will have a few pics to take. No help , no standards, no leadership.

Dear John ,

A simple and open question.. How could you as a CEO show up in a Club , on whatever Day, any Day , Walse through a Club never engage an Associate, touch base with any Manager take pictures send them out and leave a Club in absolute turmoil. Is that how you see your role? Did you know what happened, meet any Associates , ask why a situation was that way? It’s unthinkable that you and Senior executives behaved in such a manner. Then you’re leaving the Club smiling on your way out the door. If what these folks suggest is true. You missed a chance to learn some things. Do you think if you behaved more graciously. Not to suggest maybe the Club is not right, but your empathy and grace in that situation would say more about your Leadership than I’m sure the actual outcome produced. Did you know the Club Team , what the struggles were or are? How hard the Team in the Club worked. Instead you took a moment in time. That happens in our Clubs every day, and you behaved like a light weight. You chose to play gotcha! The Club here closed? What goes round comes round.

Karma comes back to you. It will catch up to you. Just think of the opportunity missed. What a Leader you could’ve been. But weren’t ! You do not deserve to lead our Company.

It is unfair to compare this light in the loafers loser to Roz. The only similarity is they had the same Title. I met Roz in a visit to our Club. She was as gracious and elegant a lady as she appeared during meetings. She was warm gracious and took time to speak w Associates . They remember it to this day. This Clown cannot carry Roz’s water. Frankly he is a typical good ole boy pushed through the system. More to the point, he is a Jerk! Roz was a Professional.

My apologies ut7. I must've absolutely took you post wrong. I'm glad we're all in agreement with this c-appy company, and the people who got it there. 😆

Friend you misread the posting it is not supporting Furners rather supporting the posters position. The guys actions are deplorable! He is a piece of trash. Struts around with his Goons like the Frat Boys they are. They have no respect for the Field Club Manager or Associates. You are dirt below his feet. He is arrogant conceited and the worse CEO the Company ever had. Makes you wish for Roz!

Walmart has had a few of those. Google Tom Coughlin and throw in Walmart or sentence or something like that. To much of that going on.

It's a disgrace to tell people the shady things a person did simply because they're on top? Not in my book! I welcome what this person has posted. Shows he can't keep his demons hidden. John Furner is garbage.

What a terrible comment to be made about the CEO of a Company. How very sad this Company has degenerated to this type of Leadership. Tells you all you need to Know.

Really a total disgrace .
