"I also wouldn't be surprised if the try to more aggressively manage employees out based on performance."

Like the one who cancelled Sun's Cloud project that was ahead of the curve and could have launched before AWS? Or said that Cloud was a fad and continued pressing ahead with an on-premise strategy? Or that has been a huge proponent of "The Art of War" approach not only with competitors, but with customers -- customers that are fed up with being screwed over? That specific employee who is largely at fault for where Oracle is today?

Or how about the one who isn't able to come up with a single idea on how to increase revenue, improve customer satisfaction or enable employees? You know -- the one who has decades of experience of cutting costs to the extent that the corporation falters.

Not to mention that both of them are narcissistic, manipulative liars who have committed fraud.

If cuts were truly made based on performance, I think those two would be the first to go. But we all know the Golden Rule is in play here -- the person with the gold makes the rules. So cuts will be made based on what puts the most gold into their pockets.

Not sure if the previous poster is serious, but it sounds a bit extreme. I wouldn't be surprised however if they reduced the cap from 26 weeks to something less. I think the bottom line is that a RIF of an employee with less than 8 years really isn't that costly. It's the employees with more than 8 years that start to add up. I also wouldn't be surprised if the try to more aggressively manage employees out based on performance.

I’m hearing they might do away with severance and just give a week. The thinking is that it will save money and more people will quit voluntarily instead of hanging on and hoping for a nice payout.
