IBM Moves 1/3 of its TSS Service division employees to new IS division without direction or warning

Tue July 31 2018..IBM moves 1/3 of its already scant field service workforce to a division called IS without any advance notice or asking for volunteers.

To make matters worse...these employees were told via a phone call from their immediate manager that they are moving to this new division the following day without any details, or job location.

These employees are now sitting around waiting for an email, conference call to provide any kind of job details, work direction, location, etc.

Meanwhile the teams that they were pulled from are now facing an almost impossible task of being able to keep up with the work they were already struggling with...Poor Poor customers that paid very good money expecting very good service...are they in for a surprise.

IBM's old motto of "Respect for the Individual" is officially dead!!!

They've become like any other greed driven corporation that puts their profits ahead of their people.

People used to buy IBM because of the technician they got with the machine. IBM decided to support other vendor products with IBM technicians. IBM customers stated saying to themselves why should we still buy the more expensive IBM machines when we can get the great IBM field support on cheaper products.

The field techs are replacing contractors at outsourced helpdesks. But unfortunately the hardware techs don't know squat about help desk software/application support. Also customers will now face longer delays in getting hardware support due to the short staff. Ginny and the board need to be ousted. GTS/MTS needs to be spunoff into its own company.

"IBM's old motto of "Respect for the Individual" is officially dead!!!"

If you're only realizing this now I'm afraid (with all respect) that you've not been paying

attention.

This also affected our TSS service engineer who over the years has given us absolute top notch

service. Our shop is slowly (and soon not so slowly) becoming an IBM-free zone.

Is this part of the fortune 250 strategy??? Rumor mill says IBM wants a separate Sales and service force for their fortune 250 customers. Everyone else will be spun off (according to the rumor)

This affected our TSS service engineer this week who maintains mainframe and storage. Seems IBM is assigning them to a permanent account away from their homes in an effort to drive them out of the company. They receive no reimbursement for mileage to the new location. I guess this is co-location for TSS... In the meantime there is no up and coming bench of service people. IBM maintenance is not cheap, time to start using more third party alternatives who treat their employees with respect.
