Question about DM visit on inventory

I am curious if this could be the end of our store. I was hearing around that the DM was coming to the store on Sunday (which makes no sense since its on a weekend) and today the GM said that the DM was suppose to come tomorrow on inventory.

I am puzzled why would he come on inventory? Is this a scare tactic to get the workers to work harder and prepare for inventory (although its a mess right now). Or can it be he might be calling our store is done? I am hoping he can basically tell us we are finished my goal here is to milk that unemployment for 6 months, Could it be other news like maybe firings will happen or what exactly can it be. I will give an updates if anything does indeed happen.

@UviUOXW-1xea Why would I lie? Is it because I caught you off guard that it was kind of shocking seeing our DM coming on inventory day. He rarily comes he will call the SM, email, and rarily do the whole video chat to see the store, but to come to the store its been that damn long.

You also saw someone else have the same experience and its the same thing as he said. SM would say that the DM was coming to our store and the SM/ASM's just started to freak out to just say say later on he wont be coming that it was canceled.

I think they don't come as often because their is no funds like before. I remember when the SM would go to this special conferences to Vegas every year, now its unheard of they have just cut the cost of just pretty much anything.

@1wui - "They are required to visit your store once a month." Yes, sort of like Eddie is "required" to try and build a relevant, thriving and profitable retail organization that returns value to its shareholders. We all know how well that is being carried out!

Some DM's don't care about certain stores so they don't visit them as frequent as other stores. They are required to visit your store once a month.

@1xea - I will call BS on you! Our store never saw our DM either. That is not to say our DM never scheduled visits, however, our DM would always call the night before to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. This happened time after time; it was like an ongoing joke! Finally, after about eighteen months of that nonsense, our DM did visit our store accompanied by several other colleagues. The DM announced that our store would be closing!

@UviUOXW-1pgr Maybe because the DM hasn't been physically to our store in 2 years (note I have been working for 5 years in the company). The only things that have happened were video chats maybe twice an year (also to note our DM is like 1.5 hours away from our store). Never have I seen him come in inventory and since closings have been happening left and right why not have an assumption if hes visiting our store we might close. I don't know if you haven't been following, other post but when the DM visits your store it usually leads to closing.

And ya I am hoping our store closes or the company goes BK its just a very toxic environment. Either way I am on the way out either i get unemployment or I get the new job I started the process for.

To the original poster: Why are you making such a big deal out of this? How long have you been with Sears? How many inventories have you done? We've had DM's come in periodically to our store throughout the years regardless of the day, including Sunday, when we have inventory. It's no big deal. The DM's visit inventories on a regular basis regardless of what day it is. That's part of their job. Sometimes they pick the store and sometimes the RVP or AP direct them to a specific store. Some stores have never been visited on inventory day. It just depends. It sounds like you are just grasping for straws for a reason for your store to close.

Original poster here the latest scoop he did come he seem like a chill guy. I saw him checking the counts with RGIS. Someone told me the inventory seems like its going smooth we just gota hit a bit more and we would be on the safe zone according tow what he saw. Will update if anything else happens. I was hoping to hear that the store was finally closing.

The employees can work as hard as they want, but if the store is scheduled too close it does not matter how hard they work.

They may just be chummy co workers. Maybe they want to hang out and work for a day.

Are your f---ing stupid. You are writing a post about the DM coming on inventory day. WTF is wrong with you. He is probably spending the night tonight to be there in the morning when they start counting and will be checking that the store is ready today. You do get an award the dumbest person of the week award.

Chances are they’re just coming because it’s the most convenient time for them.
